@21 Futures 21 Futures: Financial Fallout ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For a topic as dystopian as Financial Fallout, a short story anthology format is the best way to consume stories of hope from things that have gone awry. Editor @Totally Human Writer does it again in Volume 2, pulling together 21 different authors from around the globe out of over 100 who submitted a story to his 21 Futures Contest. Concise delivery of each story speaks to @alex_boast editing. I was particularly moved by "Infinite Debt," "Proxy - Temet Nosce," and "Self-Immolation to Self-Custody" by Schoellkopf. To hear these stories about a debt problem that becomes a life problem. Identity theft with only a shell of yourself remaining. And a father who's pushed to the brink of lighting himself on fire, in vivid detail that makes your own hair on the back of your neck stand straight up, gives complete escapism in just a few pages each. Love is not a luxury. If anything, Financial Fallout is a call to action - why we choose to read, and more importantly, why we take human action after being inspired by the stories we've read. Loved this episode! Enjoyed the really long meta chat about Stacker News itself, the personalities at Pleb Lab like Super TestNet, and the founder’s goggles to know about VC’s and startup accelerators like Wolf. Enjoy how Car giggles when ppl know him from Stacker News Live vs all the other things he does. And of course basketball talk is fun too. The passion for all things Bitcoin is infectious. I hope @GrayRuby and @Undisciplined are encouraged by @Car push to keep going! View quoted note →

***NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE*** Listen to this post read with passion on @realBitcoinDog podcast _It's So Early!_ on Fountain: Of course, everybody knows, hodl never SODL, we're not selling, I'm not selling all the Bitcoin I buy, never selling ever, we are the remnant, we are keeping our Bitcoin forever, we will live eternal, long and forever, go to Valhalla, Shiny and Chrome, and our Bitcoin legacy is there on the blockchain, forever, always, I will be immortal, just as the community on Stacker News, Health and Fitness. But, but, I love my wife, we have to really emphasize this, that I love my wife, I'm so grateful for her, I appreciate her, I appreciate her support, but she says, we have enough, we have enough, we're done, we have enough Bitcoin, however much Bitcoin we have, it's enough, she's tired of us selling all our chairs, she's tired of eating the ramen, she's tired of arguing over whether or not I can continue buying **Coke Zeros**, if I want so much Bitcoin, why do I spend so many sats on Coke Zero, mmm, so tasty, so delicious, but here we are, and I am not a trader, I don't believe in trading, I've published an article on Bitcoin Magazine that [Bitcoin maximalists do not trade to get more Bitcoin]( and this is true, this is absolutely true, I believe this, you need to buy your Bitcoin, buy it outright, mine in the fiat mines, get that cash, and add to your stack, don't focus on fiat price of Bitcoin number go up, but the sassy stack number go up, this is the way, don't get wrecked, don't chase yield. however, however, I know that the fiat price of Bitcoin is going up this year, I have studied the market, I have studied the market cycles, the halving cycles, ***I do know more than everyone else***, I know you can't time the market, but I can time the Bitcoin halving cycle bull run market, I can time that, and it pains me to not buy more Bitcoin knowing we're going to the moon, knowing we're going to a million dollars by the year 2030, and really this year my price prediction is I know we will at least hit 200k, 210k, we might even go to 333k, think about it, the ETFs, the options, the S&P fortune 500 companies trying to copy Michael Saylor's micro strategy playbook, it's all there for the taking, the favorable US presidential administration, all of it, it's all there, it's all bullish, there's no way this is the top, there's no way 100k is the top I'd love to buy more, but I can't, she's ready to live now, she's ready to live life now, she wants cash for the day, she doesn't want to sell any of our assets, as a family we have diamond hands, as a family we hodl, but how can I profit off of this move? So I found the loophole, the loophole in my wife's logic and thinking, because remember these are the keys to marriage, ***key to marriage, always make sure you're winning***, if you're always winning you can't lose, that's the key to marriage. Are you writing this down @grayruby Ruby? So what we need to do then is I'm looking at our taxable brokerage account where we own several shares of VOO, which is the Vanguard S&P 500 index ETF, now we bought this for a reason, we bought S&P 500 index ETF for a reason, we thought VOO is better than cash, you know typical traditional trad fi seven percent annualized returns every year, it's a great place to park your capital, better than just cash, better than just holding your hand out for the government to give you some paltry interest rate, but that VOO, that return seven percent or whatever, Bitcoin can beat that, and Bitcoin can't just beat that, it's going to crush that this year, absolutely guaranteed, I knew we did 100k last year, I know that we're going to 200, 210k this year at least, so with her blessing I finally had the light bulb go off, as much as I've been begging and pleading, >please honey, please can I sell our shares of the VOO to just buy Bitcoin and she said no, let me be specific, the reason she said no is she believes in us investing in more assets, but every asset we invest in, we invest in for a reason, with conviction, so that we're not focused on money, we're not focused on investing, where should my mind be focused, on our kids, on our family, on stacker news, okay maybe not stacker news, but set it and forget it, build wealth, ignore wall street, and enjoy your family, that's the real Bitcoin dog family credo, but I want to make that money, I don't want to have that resentment, so happy money for daddy, happy wife, happy family, so I have gotten her blessing to take our VOO position and sell it for cash, and then take that cash and invest it in Bitcoin at this price, at this $100,000 Bitcoin price, then because I know Bitcoin's going to 200k, 210k, it's going to double, we'll double our money, and I'll sell it, and I'll have double the cash, and there we go, now I've doubled the cash, now of course, easy, what could go wrong? now once I've doubled my cash, what do I do with that cash, I can of course rebuy back that VOO position, so like spend and replace, and then it was house money, and it's all good, all done, now we have this cash, we profited off of this trade, if I want at that time to keep some Bitcoin, I would love to do that, don't get me wrong, you know I want to just stack stats and buy Bitcoin, but we finally now have two kids, we now have to pay for daycare for two kids simultaneously, daycare does not give you a discount for having two kids, on the third kid, they'll give 10% off on the third kid, but oh gosh, we'll see about that, so no discount for two kids, but easy money, easy cash, so it's a little wild how much resistance there's been to buying Bitcoin, but this loophole, if I say I'm buying Bitcoin for the sake of selling later for cash, suddenly we're on board, so I'm thrilled about this, I'm thrilled to discover this, this is a trade, this is trading, but this isn't trading, it's just one big swing trade, it's one big momentum trade, it's just taking all my knowledge, seeing where I have capital currently deployed in this taxable S&P 500 ETF, reallocating it to an asset that I think will give a higher return, obviously, which is Bitcoin, and making that game. What's the best part about this? What's the most beautiful part about this? The beautiful part is, it's Bitcoin, it's real Bitcoin, so I started buying Bitcoin in 2021 at the top, at $62,000, YOLOing in, all in at $62,000 Bitcoin, of course, like any person who paid their tuition plus 2021, but I really did pay, I learned, and I never sold, everybody says they want to buy the dip, 2022, we fell from $62,000 all the way to $16,000, and everyone says, >please, please pass me that bowl of chips, I want to buy that, yummy, yummy, that tasty, tasty dip but then it dips to $40K, then it dips to $30K, and they're like, the dip wasn't supposed to keep dipping, **everybody wants to buy the dip, nobody wants to catch a falling knife**, well, I'll catch that falling knife, look at these hands, do you see real Bitcoin dog's hands, do you see his paws, there's blood all over these paws, you know why there's blood, because ***I've been catching so many falling knives***, so I'm ready, I'm a Bitcoiner, I'm a Bitcoin maximalist if I do this swing trade and buy in at $100K Bitcoin, and we fall 50% to $50K, you know I'm not selling, you know I'm huddling, you know I got Bitcoin in my pocket, I'm keeping it, I'm not panic selling, I'm not losing it, and more importantly, when we do hit to $200K and I sell, well, that's the beautiful thing about the IRS, no, I'm just kidding, there's nothing beautiful about the IRS, but that's the great thing is, the IRS wants to do first-in-first-out style transactions, so when I go to sell to cash out, I'm not actually selling the Bitcoin I just bought at $100K, so I have no short-term capital gains tax at the marginal tax rate, I'm selling the Bitcoin that I bought in 2021 at $62K four years ago, and so now I have this long-term capital gains tax rate of 15%. Another way of looking at it is, I'm effectively raising my cost basis, and the reason I'm doing it though is to profit for cash, I see the move, I see the move coming, I know we're going to have a bear market in 2026, I know the price of Bitcoin will probably crash all the way to the prior cycle top of $65K in 2026, it'll crash from $210K, $250K, $300K, all the way to $65K in 2026, but this is just profit, this is just fiat mindset, how can I get cash today, and again, I'm protecting my stack, I'm huddling my original Bitcoin stack, I'm not losing my original Bitcoin stack, I'm not going to get wrecked, I'm not doing this trade on leverage, I'm not taking it on margin, I'm not taking out debt to buy this Bitcoin, if I ever needed to cash out, pull out, get that liquidity back, it's always available to me, Bitcoin is the most liquid market that exists, so yeah, you tell me what you think, undisciplined and gray ruby, you tell me what you think, stackers, the alternative is to do nothing, the alternative is to huddle, the alternative is to just know one gray ruby sat equals one real Bitcoin dog sat, and just ride the price number go up wave, knowing that my Bitcoin stack stays the same, like a mountain, never moves, but I'm ready to get creative, to think about how can I get some cash, what can I spend it on, more Coke Zero maybe, my exchange that I use is River, I really enjoyed River, I've used 10 different places to buy Bitcoin in the past, I will share my River referral code, I don't work for River, I'm not an affiliate for River, but it seems to work really well for me, so please let me know what you think, clearly when it comes to Bitcoin, it's so early! @GrayRuby @Undisciplined

I am now founder of the ~HealthAndFitness Territory on Stacker News. That's it! I did it! I've done it! Not only have I joined the Stacker News community, as referred by @grayruby, and contributed with my insightful posts and loving comments, but I have now made my mark and chartered a territory as a founding member. Join the conversation on @Stacker News Be like @GrayRuby and @Undisciplined and support me on Fountain: There was previously a ~health Territory that died charging a thousand sats a post. There was previously a ~fitness Territory that died, but the founder of Stacker News, @k00b , has promised in his pitch deck that with Stacker News, we can make communities that are immortal, that last forever, self-funded communities. And what community is more likely to be immortal than not health nor fitness, but ~HealthAndFitness? Of course, I have joined, and my fellow founding members, @grayruby, @Undisciplined, and @IamSINGLE, each helping contribute a quarter of the sats needed to charter the Territory for one month, 50,000 sats, and we look forward to charging all contributors to post to our Territory 99 sats if they want to make a post to our beautiful Territory members in health and fitness. I think, again, this is where I say _it's so early!_, it speaks to our Bitcoiner values and our low time preference values that health and fitness are at the forefront. Think about our legacies, think about our children, think about saving our life force, our energy in an asset that does not depreciate over time, that does not decay over time, that is not subject to political jurisdiction risk. The wealthiest of the wealthy, they're not buying equities, they're not trading fast stocks, they're buying real assets, gold, real estate, property, timeless art pieces, things that their value lasts eternal, they're ubiquitous, they're not at the whim of these CEOs or boards of directors that make poor choices. We know with Bitcoin, human decision-making is fallible. The central bank needs to get humbled because I trust all of my value of my time and energy and a few lines of code more than the experts. And so health and fitness is right with that. And how many experts are there telling us the right way to eat, the right way to diet, the right way to exercise? How many times has the government changed their food pyramid? So many times. How much is big food industry telling you what to eat? I'll admit for myself personally, I've spent zero time looking into the seed oils controversy. But if so many Bitcoiners are going to be anti-seed oils, works for me. I've always been an olive oil and coconut oil kind of a guy anyways. I've never been someone to do beef tallow. I'm not opposed to it, but I just wouldn't know where to start with having beef tallow. But yeah, let's get into it. Let's get into health and fitness, this territory. Let this be the spicy one. Let this be the controversial one. It's a natural fit, in my opinion. First, you had Stacker News. First, you had discussions, fierce debate and discussions over the future of Bitcoin and of lightning. Then you had GrayRuby bring on sports and athleticism. Again, I think that's a natural fit of talking about athletes at the peak of their game of top performance. What's that 1% edge? Again, very merit-based thing. I think that's why Bitcoiners are attracted to sports. It's just a fair game of rules. Follow the rules. What is the talent? And then now is that next paradigm. Let it be the case that the second most popular territory in Stacker News is health and fitness. Something that's not done and dusted. Something that's not settled. And let me kick it off by talking about my 2025 goal, ABS 2025. So quick story, 10 years ago, I had just started dating my girlfriend, now my wife. And I had told her, ABS 2015. 2015 is going to be the year. If I can't get ABS in 2015, it's never going to happen. And lo and behold, 2015 came and went. 2016, 2017. And I just told everyone, you know, it's just still 2015, ABS 2015. The goal is still to get ABS in the year 2015. If I can't get ABS in 2015, it's never going to happen. So it's just always 2015. Well, here we are, 2025. And I can say ABS 2015 did not succeed, but it's not too late. It's never too late. She's given me a renewed push, especially after I've had difficulty losing the baby weight of having a second child. You know I'm talking about Grey Ruby, how hard it is to lose that baby weight as a father. So ABS 2025. If I can't get ABS in the year 2025, it's going to take me another decade. So here we go. And luckily, I know where the ABS are made. They're not made on the track. They're not made in the weight room on the bench. They're made in the kitchen. 80-20, body fat. That's the name of the game. As a man, if you want to have ABS, you've got to lower your body fat to 8%, maybe even 6%. So I think for men, it's more of an advantage to get ABS than women. Needless to say, it'll be a very difficult, very ambitious goal. My starting weight for the year, I think, was 223 pounds. No Grey Ruby, no international audience will not be giving my weight in kilograms. Everybody, everyone knows pounds is the standard. If you're not with America, you're against us. We're using pounds. I will make an exception. If you measure your weight in stone, which is a British weight, I will allow that because that's just fun to say how many stone do you weigh? I mean, how do you not love that? But otherwise, pounds is the way. So I have not done too much exercise to start the year. So far, I've only done one run. Last year, I had a goal to go running every day, to do at least a mile every day. That worked pretty well until my son was born. Then that really went off the rails. But now it's just about the ABS. And that's the thing is, you know, I've had my share of donuts. I've had my share of Krispy Kremes. If I had ever been to a Tim Hortons, I would say that I had whatever Canadian pastry that Tim Hortons has. Canadian, do they have Vermont maple syrup in Tim Hortons? I don't know. It's got to be something to go with the Horton Hears a Who elephant coffee, something like that. So anyway, ABS 2025. That's the goal. That's the dream. That's the vision. The ABS are made in the kitchen. I'm enjoying the health and fitness territory. I'm starting new ideas. [Roast my receipt](https://stacker.news/items/844233/r/realBitcoinDog) to talk about what was my grocery receipt. What are the foods I'm buying? What are the foods I'm feeding my family? Maybe I'll take a picture of my shopping cart next time and do a crash my cart so that you can just visually see what's in the cart and judge me for what I have in there. And let's have fun with this. Who says that the fitness weight loss journey doesn't have to be fun? I can't wait to share my progress with you all. It sounds like @denlillaapan @Aardvark, each of them have very personal stories about nutrition and supplements and supplementation. And I'm here for it. So let's go. ABS 2025. We'll see if the health and fitness territory stands immortal, shiny and chrome because ***it's so early.***

Boost your listen on Fountain to be my #1 fan: Join the conversation on @Stacker News It's so early! I'm your host, Will Schoellkopf, author of [the Bitcoin Dog, following the set to the Bitcoin C++ source code](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09RG47RTQ), and [Bitcoin Girl saved the world](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BS8XB72K). Shout out to @GrayRuby , @Undisciplined . We are about to launch the newest territory on Stacker News called ~HealthAndFitness, and we are committed to doing a trial for the next four months. Thank you, @k00b for lowering the territory cost down to 50,000 sats a month for us to do this trial. There previously was a health territory, there previously was a fitness territory. Both have gone to the territory graveyard. Health, in particular, charged an exorbitant 1,000 sat fee to post, which possibly led to the demise. I would like to float us charging a fee of 99 sats to post, to have a businessman-savvy 99 sats, or actually maybe 100 sats, because that's the typical default rate when you look at all the various territories, and it'll be easier at 100 sats to track the revenue of our territory. I'm excited to make various Excel spreadsheets tracking territory revenue and post in meta how we're doing. What is RBD's vision for the territory? Well, first and foremost, accountability. Anyone who wants to track their daily goals, daily weight loss goals, daily muscle gain goals, strength goals, workout goals, post it in Health and Fitness, and you know the four territory founders will be zapping those posts. It doesn't have to be long posts, it doesn't have to be detailed posts, but here in the Health and Fitness territory we want to show our support. I think absolutely food and diet, as relates to Health and Fitness, has a place here. Of course food and drinking exists, but I think of that more as that territory as cocktail drinks, or like delicious steak you're eating, when it comes to meal prep, you know, things like that. I think that that would belong in Health and Fitness because you're cooking food, or buying food, or grocery shopping food for a specific goal. That's an idea definitely to think about my grocery store receipt and tracking for myself, like what is the price of the eggs, what are the eggs that I'm buying, what is the price of the milk, what is the milk that I'm buying, what is the price of beef in my local area. Am I doing the 80% lean, 85% lean, 90% lean, 93% lean beef? Tracking those prices. What is the price of the local salmon in my area? A lot of potential for Health and Fitness. Obviously posting pictures of your abs, posting your gains, posting your back and stuff. You could always hide your face if you don't want to show your face. For me personally, I like to take the Bitcoin dog Sheila out on runs. I've been posting pictures of her and I on our runs in the dogs and cats territory, but to post the Strava of my run, of where I run, I think that would be a fun thing to post in Health and Fitness. Of course, there's also actually organizing fitness goals or fitness pools or health pools and things. One that my coworkers like to start and then always give up on very early, very predictively is the 100 pushups a day challenge. Have you done 100 pushups today? I'm sure some people are relieved to no longer have to do 100 pushups till 100K. Those are just some of many ideas. Weight tracking, strength tracking, meal prep tracking, grocery receipt tracking, body composition tracking, running tracking. I think it has a unique place separate from just stacker sports. Let me know. Are you excited for this territory to be founded? Are you going to post? What are the polls that are going to come out in Health and Fitness? I think there's definitely opportunity for @realBitcoinDog to stoke some controversy with some controversial Health and Fitness polls about putting butter in coffee or ghee in coffee or have coffee black. Things like that. Things that are approached from a Health and Fitness perspective, not just food and drinks for the sake of taste. Coming for you. Bye.

Boost your listen on Fountain to be my #1 fan: Join the conversation on Stacker News: @GrayRuby @Undisciplined @siggy47 @JB love getting paid sats for their posts! It's so early! I'm your host, Will Schoellkopf, author of [The Bitcoin Dog, following the set to the Bitcoin C++ source code]( and [Bitcoin Girl saved the world.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BS8XB72K) It's going to be hard for me to spin this one to a Bitcoin twist, but anything is low time preference if you try hard enough, and try, try, try we did the last week. This episode is the potty training post-mortem. Tip of the hat to the Stacker News Parents Corner, where we talk about our parenting journeys as Bitcoiner parents. So we followed, with my daughter, the [oh-crap potty training method](https://www.amazon.com/Crap-Potty-Training-Everything-Parenting/dp/1501122983). This is a method where we have her go through various blocks, and this is how the author organizes the method. Block 1, the child is completely naked for the first day, and you read their body language and body cues to when to suggest for them to try, try, try to go pee, pee, pee in the toilet. Block 2 is they go commando, so they do have pants on, but no underwear, so you can still, in some light colored pants, so you can still see visibly if they have had an accident. Block 3 is introducing underwear, so they wear underwear alongside their pants. And finally blocks 4, 5, and 6 are all various levels of leaving the house without wearing a diaper. So I'm happy to report that after not one, two, or three days, but five days of keeping our daughter at home on day six, she returned to school not in diapers, in pants and underwear, and at school she had just one accident in the morning. So I would say this method was very arduous. The author was correct to call it a hell week style method, and she gave a lot of caveats that sure, it could take only three days, but three days isn't the best case scenario. Please allow for yourself up to seven days. I will say that my experience day one was very hard for my wife and I in particular. We're so fortunate because our daughter is the best. I mean, I'm sure everyone thinks that their kids are good. Actually, probably not. Actually, there's probably some people who don't think their kids are the best, but our daughter is the best, and she loves us and trusts us and trusts our judgment. But this was the first time, finally, really the first time where we met resistance from our daughter. We would ask her to go potty, and she would shout, no, no, I don't want to go potty, and that caught us off guard a little bit. Sure, in the past I've mentioned her knocking food off the table, putting her feet on the table, leaving the table with food, and daddy's superpower of infinite patience to sit with her until she does finish eating, or make sure she stays at the table to finish eating, or that she does pick up her toys, but this is different because you can't make your kid go pee in the potty, and certainly, you can't make your kid go pee in the potty. If you make them with all this pressure, they're not going to be able to relax their body to go. I think the timing worked out well, that it was after all of the holidays and Christmas and New Year's activities, after so much social time with family or friends, to just be home all day for three days in a row. I mean, really, honestly, not leave the house for three days, not use the phone, have the cell phone put away. That was definitely the wrinkle, was what it would mean when people would call us to talk to us, so how to figure that out, how to balance giving attention to the person on the call when we're supposed to be focused on our daughter. Another wrinkle, of course, was having my infant newborn son and caring for him. Luckily, Jenny and I were able to both be home together for this. But yeah, the first day, after the first day, we really had to do a check with ourselves to say maybe we were over-emphasizing the potty, over-emphasizing the word potty, ***potty this, potty that, let's pee on the potty, sit on the potty, pee, pee, pee!***. And we said the word potty so much, we came up with a code word, Rambo. So Rambo was the code word for potty, just to make sure we didn't say potty constantly all the time. We did nighttime training at the same time, too. We did sleep training at the same time, too, so this meant even when she goes to nap, even when she goes to sleep, no diaper, just buck naked, just pants, and then just underwear and pants. And we ultimately only had one accident in the bed from that. Kudos to my wife, of course, for being willing to lead the charge on this, to be willing to wake up at 5.30 in the morning before our daughter woke up so she could catch her the moment she woke up. So that was the struggle we found for our daughter was she wouldn't lift the bed, but after getting out of bed, instead of going straight to the potty, she'd go to put on shoes or something. She loves shoes, especially her sparkly ruby red slipper shoes. In that moment, then the pee accident happened, so working with her to catch that, also waking up our daughter at 2 in the morning so she could try to pee and stuff. So yeah, just very grateful that it was very difficult, but that day one success, she did. So at the daycare, they put her in a pull-up to sleep for nap time because for them, with their 18 kids and three teachers in the classroom for the two-year-old toddlers, they can't deal with it, having every kid wet the bed, and sure enough, she did wet her pull-up. But for the daycare, they don't count that as an accident. They're happy with that. Hey, it's pee in the pull-up. Easy. It's pee in underwear or pants that's now soiled and have to deal with it. So we'll see if she holds her pee during the nap today, but she was successful overnight last night. I still haven't had any accidents in the car seat, in the car while driving, which I'm thrilled about, and yeah, just very hopeful. I want to say it brought my wife and I closer together this bonding experience, but moreover, I would just say it really pushed us and challenged us and tested us in our communication skills, in our relationship skills, and in our parenting skills. So in the moment, it is absolutely tough or difficult, but at the end, and we're hardly done, right? Potty training's ongoing. They say to expect accidents up to five years old, but I think it was rewarding. It's tough for me to recommend the Oh Crap Potty Training Method to other parents. I don't know if other parents would have the patience to stay home from work for five days in a row. Luckily for us, we were on parental leave, so that made it both easier and harder, but we have immense pride in our daughter's hand-eye coordination skills, her accountability, her responsibility. We can really reflect back on this time as a clear time where I raised my daughter, teaching her a new skill, and doing parenting. I look forward to, of course, later, when she's 10 years old, teaching her the skill of scuba diving and being a scuba diver, and as a 10-year-old, diving 18 meters, 60 feet, underwater with compressed air. That'll really be the pride moment. So thank you for listening, and clearly when it comes to hyper-Bitcoinization, it's so early!
For all the purists saying price doesn’t matter, now that we hit $100k my mom finally decided to #GetOffZero to buy her first sliver. Her reason? A higher $USD value makes her less skeptical (but still skeptical because Bitcoin isn’t FDIC insured 🤣) @River image
