Printing money is immoral.
Shitcoin creation is money printing.
NFTs are a subset of shitcoins.

YES
Yes but let them spend all their payday loans on shitcoins and self destruct
Right.
Printing money is the problem bitcoin solves
Shitcoins, nfts and ordinals over here recreating the problem bitcoin solves

I see only facts here
Not everyone makes an ordinal with the intent to sell it to someone else or scam people...
How do company shares fall? Options? Corporate bonds? Municipal bonds? Are any and all fiat financial instruments and derivatives immoral? I feel that most are designed to generate fees, while the holder waits for 'yield' in the future, which may or may not occur, depending on the instrument and debasement of the currency it is redeemed in.
And bitcoin started all this! 😉
👀👏🏼
Bitcoin creation isn’t money printing? 🤔
🫡
No. The amount is already set, Bitcoin isn't created so much as found. Money printing is creation of units of value that never were in existence.
The idea that dust can be owned and sent around is a scam, the numbering scheme used to track ownership is complete arbitrary nonsense; believing in it is to scam oneself 🙃
If the use case is just about storing cryptographic signatures of arbitrary data to lots of places.... 🤷
Or "Bitcoin isn't so much created as it is *released* and awarded to the miner of a block"
So if some new satoshi appers and sets a “new bitcoin” isn’t creation of new money too? 🤔
You are describing the other coins attempting to be money. Thats not bitcoin. Bitcoin has a set supply, and increasing demand, others have tried to replicate bitcoin for 14 yrs now.
Call me “satoshi” & assume a money shortage: i can grow lettuce and use it as money to exchange for goods & services but its elastic supply will always meet demand at the lowest possible margin of cost. I will lose my savings either to decay or a larger producer. I didn’t create money, i created a good that can be temporarily exploited to gain more resources. Furthermore who will accept 10 truckloads of lettuce for a car that they produce. Just because i “satoshi” produced it does not make it money.
I guess all trading cards are scams? Tell me something, is value subjective? Someone didn't shave to "believe" in ownership of hashes to participate in inscriptions. Maybe they just wanted to see the proof of concept or have something fun to show their buddies to get them interested in Bitcoin.
You critique is coming from a false premise. Value is subjective. I think they have zero value to.
You can look at it another way. There can never be another Mona Lisa, no matter how many times it’s replicated.
Bitcoin was created with a price of zero. Price came afterwards, after the network was established. If a “new satoshi” appeared, what are the chances the coin would launch with a price of $0.00 and have no insider premine? Even if that happened, the new coin would then be in competition with Bitcoin, and what are the chances it would contain some property so valuable that it would outcompete bitcoin’s network effect AND not suffer a fatal attack in the meantime?
Ordinals aren't trading cards. Value is certainly subjective, speculate over lines and graphs on games and screens all they want. Ownership is what we're talking about. Ordinal theory simply put is an arbitrary ownership scheme, it has little to do with Bitcoin.
Have you considered that they're just retarded? Trying to monetize ownership of arbitrary data burning Bitcoin UTXOs, has happened plenty of times and doesn't go anywhere with or without taproot.
If people are interested in the fun of getting paid for arbitrary data, you're already on nostr 🙂⚡
and derivatives can never be worth more than the base asset.
NFT/Ordinals are dog 💩 wrapped in cat 💩

"Trying to monetize ownership of arbitrary data"
Missed the boat bud. My entire point was that not everyone that makes an ordinal intends on monitizing it.
But you saw right past my point because you're blinded by hatred of something because you have some ill conceived notion that you know for a fact what other people's intentions are. How about just ignore them? They don't effect anything in Bitcoins long term.
so if not to monetize, then they want to create a bunch of dust they can't own.... for?🤣
No hate here, the whole thing is hilarious. the utxo bloat not so much 😮💨 and since can't do much about it other than to make the suggestion to not do such things, can't ignore it entirely.
You cant say printing money is imoral and that the “shitcoins” are imoral and say in the same argument Bitcoin isn’t printing new money because is set, it’s nonsense 🧐🧐🧐
Forget the ownership thing. Not to monetize not to own. Can you not believe some people just want to try something new and interesting with their sats because they like it?
Again, you think it's bloat. That's your opinion. They're following consensus. They're just as legitimate transactions as any other. I'm sorry you don't like it. I don't like when people gamble, or buy porn, or do any other multitude of things. But that doesn't mean I don't discredit those actions as market activity just because I disagree with them. You can not like something and it be valid financial activity at the same time.
You think they shouldn't be allowed, go run knots, censored them (not very in line with the whole ethos of Bitcoin) or fork off and create better money and let me know how it goes. Otherwise, let the orditards have their fun, let the miners take in a little profit in some hard times and ignore them. They will be gone in a few years and you can be happy again.
Playing by the rules is moral.
Favoring some changes to the rules and not others is fiat behavior.
Pushing taproot on everyone was immoral.
This format is reductionist and fertile for exploitation.
Drivechains
(also...fuck ordinals though)
Stupid people are free to do stupid things with their money. No one has a problem with that. Im trying to be helpful to point out that it is better to spend money on things one can actually 'own', that's pretty important imo.
Bitcoin is alien for people to understand already, there's a lot to take in, it does good to point out the stupidity of repeated failures to save further wasted effort.
I think it is great that there are people out there willing to do what they can to minimize utxo bloat, even at the cost of forgoing mining revenue. Sats are precious, it shows principles, hopefully such action fires off a light bulb in those who haven't yet established what they want to accomplish.
What is there to stand on when all they have is dust?
for me the immorality is not printing, but printing out of thin air, while others have to sweat for it, at least Bitcoin takes energy to give coins. And at least anyone can join the process of creation, why have that special someone that only he who can create something out of nothing like he is god or something? i don't want to play that game. Bitcoin is fair play, and i don't own any of it but i'm just happy for its existence
Bitcoin is permissionless tho… there is a market demand for ordinals that is using block space and paying fees. Isn’t this a good thing overall?

Madeira Island is Bitcoin island - Bitcoin only ;)
As an artist and bitcoiner I think the market demand for ordinals is temporary. Short-term replacement for NFT's for those who have been burned, but still think they can make quick money with art. I don't see the ordinals being long-term for the non-technical communities using them.
Fuck Ordinals. Yes.
I don’t know, I think ordinals are here to stay. I’m sure more use cases could be found using them by non tech people. Maybe as some kind of record keeping mechanism..
