The question isn’t whether Nostr will replace centralized platforms, it’s whether those platforms can survive the cognitive dissonance of users who’ve tasted true digital sovereignty. History suggests that once people understand the difference between renting their voice and owning it, the landlords become obsolete. Am I wrong Nostr? #asknostr

I read the question to be whether the mainstream platforms could run on top of the nostr protocol. My answer would revolve around a discussion about if they could continue to monetise their efforts to keep their business models alive on the nostr protocol. Most would say no.
Thanks for sharing your perspective! I didn’t see it that way. My answer would be no. I hope my quote made that clear.
I hadn’t even seen it that way at first—but after reading your comment, I realized that digital sovereignty is what truly drew me to #nostr.
I genuinely hope Nostr replaces the mainstream apps we currently use to connect. I’ve always disliked the idea that content can be censored or removed just because board members or shareholders disapprove of it.
That’s not how human communication should work.
On Nostr, it's all about open and uncensored speech. If you don't like what someone says, just unfollow them—but don’t silence their voice. This is what a true digital town square looks like. And the fact that you can get paid in Bitcoin? Even better.
Also before I forget, one username across all of Nostr and I don’t need to pay for features like character limits.
💯
Nostr is the spot for people who value freedom and sovereignty, but sadly most value comfort and ease over those. Hence the society we live in
Whenever I think humanity may be ready for freedom/anarchy (no rulers) I just need to drive through a busy suburban strip mall parking lot and that faith quickly fades away lol
(responding to the last message in the thread, which is the one you just read): The only censorship on Nostr is the off switch. And yeah, a few sats for a pixel does help keep the lights on. (nostr:nevent1qqst8c2w6hq4x3a7d6q0k2a7pzq6jq0k608cmyjul90ct5v9ccmhxqpq)<|begin▁of▁sentence|>
