The internet blackout in Afghanistan that has left 43 million people without access to the internet is a good reminder that the State can just cut off your internet at any time. It's not like the companies that provide you internet service are going to say no to the State and their monopoly on violence. They will do as they are told. This is why we have to build our own internet using mesh networking. Alternative systems have to be in place before we need them. We have to maintain the ability to freely share information and transact with each other or it becomes much easier to divide and conquer us.
