Normally, you won't achieve anything unless you work seven days a week at what you're passionate about, and usually for more than eight hours a day.
Then the socialists come along and tell you that you only have to work 35 hours a week, which is the perfect recipe for failure.
Socialism is the world of laziness, envy, and mediocrity.
Don't let them sell you the opposite; you'll have to work your fingers to the bone to be someone, because if you don't, someone else will, and that someone else will be the one who becomes someone.

You need to define work first.
Not just your "job" needs proof work.
So does your culture, family, philosophy, spirituality,...
If you don't put in the work you'll be mediocre - that's for sure. If you put in the work in only one part of your life you'll be lopsided.
Busy bodies for the win!
Socialism is a disincentivisation system. For the majority, it rewards racing towards the lowest common denominator.
So just work like a Chinese
And that is why China will soon be the world's leading power, if it is not already.
Now imagine that on a sats Unit of account economy.
Signal through the noise!✌️
Both, socialists and the ones wanting "to become someone" through hard work or through whatever, are slaves of the matrix. Serving the same master.
Understand Dhammapada fully if you really want to achieve the state of being in your lane. Others call it the state of happiness, but that is inaccurate. Hapiness is just one of the extremes.
But before you study it, know that the world of the understanders is extremely scarcely populated. So if you do understand it, chances of spending the rest of your life in total solitude, lonelyness are close to 100%.
You're never alone, you're always in company with an aspect of yourself.

I appreciate the consolation. I still feel I need to warn the people when mentioning the path, that there is more happiness in stupidity. Even though hapiness is not the objective, the outcome may be quite a shocker.
That said, a healthy mind should seek out the truth and all the objective information, no matter the price and the looming outcome.
You will know you understood Dhammapada, once you understand that this not the end, it is just the beginning. Dhammapada only gives you the eyes to see. Once you can see, you have to go and look and understand things for what they really are.
Expect both, pleasant surprises and disappointments
Who cares?
There are working examples of socialism, And obvious failures of socialism. I find socialism works in places nature requires people to prepare for harsh living conditions. The state cannot account for nature, Therefore it needs to provide for its workers to keep its tax structure stable. In places resources are abundant generally women lead society, And a more communal society evolves. There is no perfect banking system.
