Two weeks ago, burglars tried to break into my house, which is still under construction. The place was locked up, and I had extra security locks on the windows. They showed up exactly at midnight. They didn’t even bother with the door and went straight for the windows. They didn’t break the glass either, they were clearly trying to stay quiet and came prepared with tools to force a window open. That part worked, but the moment they stepped inside, the alarm system went off. It started blaring immediately, and they took off without grabbing anything. Sometimes, a loud noise is enough to stop a thief, but that’s not something software engineers are usually comfortable admitting.
Speaking of not locking your doors, ‪Let’s all make this a common and well known practice - We bitcoiners do not store our private keys at home. We have to go somewhere to get them. Greater inconvenience = greater personal security.‬
