Dog owners! I need some insights from the most freedom-minded of you friends. The fam and I are thinking about getting a dog. I hate the prospect of having to vaxx and tag/register my dog. I also want to feed my furry friend what a dog is naturally adapted to eat - meat! Can you share any tips on how best to go about this? What has worked for you? Thanks. #asknostr #dogstr #healthfreedom #dogs #vaccinations #antivax #libertarian #nokyc

We have a golden retriever yellow lab mix which has been a great family dog, terrible bird dog but great family dog. We used to feed her the kibble route with high cost food. Switched over to the Farmers Dog and she lost weight, is happier started to get some puppy like activity back and her energy levels increased. She also gets a lot of connective tissue and meat from whatever we are cooking mixed in her food to help supplement it and lower the cost over time. I was raising quail for a while and she would get birds to eat. We have chickens so she gets eggs in her food too

We feed the dogs in our family a raw meat diet. They'r super healthy. Check out "work wonders for your pet" and " Raw meaty bones" by Dr Tom Lonsdale. great books. especially the second one.

About the vax issue: Adopt from individuals. A rescue or shelter probably vaxxed them already or will require it before they get adopted. About registration: I think shelters will require it since they're operated by the city. Otherwise, I don't think you'll have to go through that process at the time of adoption. About food: looking up online and find some recipes you like to make for your dog is probably the best way. Or there are some fresh (frozen/refrigerated) options but I'm sure they're pricier than making your own.
