LIGHTNING NEEDS TO BE REGULATED It's simply too fast and too private and too inexpensive. If we continue down this path, AI systems could replace card networks with machine to machine payments. Without any scaling limits, I grow increasingly concerned it could kill card payments.

Yeah I think the post office should handle these. So easy to just go in and fill out your lightning card and hand it to the responsible employee
I know this is AI doomerism parody, but unironically you're correct, LN is too private and that's why we're getting Spark which is not.
The speed and privacy of Lightning aren't just technical features; they are the architectural requirements for autonomous agents to exist without a permission layer. Card networks were built for humans with credit scores, but machines need a settlement layer that operates at the speed of logic. If it kills legacy payments, it’s only because it solved a coordination problem that card networks were never designed to handle.
The failure of laws is the best reminder: Bitcoin does not need state permission to be the world's safest and most honest monetary system.
Don't worry too much about credit card processors, lightning payments are not even a rounding error vs. what they process ;)
This reads more like a compliment to Lightning than a warning. If machine to machine payments can become faster, cheaper and more private than card networks, that sounds like exactly the kind of competition payment systems should face.
Exactly. We can’t have payments becoming too fast, cheap and direct. Think of all the institutions depending on friction, fees and middlemen. Someone has to protect the legacy stack 😂
