#asknostr
Give me your best ideas on discovery, and I might do something about it, no promises though π
We need to solve this shit.

Nostr suffers terribly by leadership all having gigantic accounts, so that they don't know how dull and lonely and frustrating Nostr can be for the remaining 99,996% of us, down here in the steerage class.
Twitter didn't get so big by being

πͺ
I'm doing it at

I currently have no better ideas than making the community knowledge (asknostr) easy to find, discover and use.
Ahh I was so happy to see this, until I realized it isn't fully working yet, but I guess congratulations on the start, Looks cool!
Make a dwell-time algorithmic video app for iOS and Android. Apps like tiktok and reels lean so heavily on ML algorithms that they don't have the moat that was previously made by the social graph. Don't mention nostr, relays, zaps or nsec during sign-up. Just show the best videos you can. I've been trying to vibe code a nostr-native video viewer and already enjoyed having these videos loop. Hitting a wall though just with web and not yet hand coding anything.
Just pushed a fix to the `fetching-note` error.
Anything else broken?
On the homepage, all questions does nothing, explore hashtags does nothing
I was thinking of a different kind of discovery but short form video apps do this excellently as well, since they surface the content and by extension the creators of content regardless of clout or following.
On my Android phone clicking the button does nothing, also weird that I do see a zap receipts, but no sats on my wallet π€
Tried with Firefox on desktop, and same issue, but I did see the links it was trying to navigate to, and when I open the links myself I can access those pages, the buttons still don't work though.
Zaps should be there now (lnbhub needed restart).
I will test on firefox and android. Tnx for report!
Thanks for the satsπ« cool work!
Currently, I use #Nostr like a search engine. I search for keywords, such as the name of a band, city, or event, and look for notes from other users to interact with. I also follow a couple of hashtags that I'm interested in.
I discover things from hashtags and renotes. I don't need or want anything else.
We should encourage people to use hashtags more.
Show me everything my followers zap please
Ahh finally something I can implement π
Show me a truer signal, also incorporate #onlyzaps into your client. Liked are from legacy media and a worthless
They are non monetary, but they do carry some signal
Just have new users start with my profile instead of a feed full of glowies.
I use the global feed and don't mute people, so I actually work as a ground 0 to find the rest of nostr from instead of another manipulative scumbag trying to hide important shit from the public.
If I can't invoke enough emotion to get a reply or a zap then its of no value. The zap shows you are on the right frequency and providing value. Likes are just misses in the loud world of noise.
This is subjective, sure this may be true form you, but I do see value in likes, infact I think that likes are underutilized on nostr, and if utilized well enough they can even my add more value.
I use hashtags because I have a niche hobby and if not, I'd never have found my people. I also make up silly ones for fun.
I appreciate you input here. I know what I ask for is big. The good news is currently there are no like bots, but they will come with time.
I am still wrestling with how to value zaps
We're using likes & reposts to build the spatianostra relay feed. You repost, I like. Boom, it's in the feed for anyone browsing it to see. Jumble has it set as one of the default feeds for new users to browse. If enough people in the voting pool like any one note, it gets displayed in the feed. The like bots will never get into the voting pool because they themselves don't create anything worth enough likes to gain them voting power ot contribution rights. The greatest part is no one owns or controls the feed or the voting process. Anyone with more voting weight now, such as you & I, are mere stewards of the space. Eventually, enough people with similar interests will be driving the feed with their likes.
As you know, I'm also very pro-zap. This is just an example of what's possible with different metrics. I particularly think this one has potential because most new users aren't going to be zapping right away, so it's discovery and familiarity in one feed.
Can you try again? It was too aggresively trying to fetch events/websockets causing the homepage to do other stuff.
The homepage (
https://asknostr.site) should now be much faster and be interactive right away on mobile and firefox. Hope this helps
Can confirm this works now, it's also far more reliable than what existed last time it's great!
Btw built something very similar on pollerama.fun/feeds/topics
