Let us hope it doesn’t die down. Nostr needs more economic activity, more users willing to transact, not less. Limiting the network to Bitcoin-only has turned out to be an unfortunate but real chokepoint.

Nostriches have been bled dry over the last four years.

Been telling Shitcoiners for almost four years now to build the best Shitcoin app possible on Nostr. So far, only recently BCH has completed that task.

People have incomes lol. They’re just either cheap or not here any more, or perhaps nobody has any bitcoin any more 😂 Either way, Nostr apps need payment methods people will actually use. Bitcoin apparently ain’t it.

I've said all along that we need more Zappers, that otherwise we'd be blessed dey. With Monero we now how new Zappers. People that weren't able to Zap before or spend those funds before. It all makes sense from that perspective. Zaps slow down. New influx of Zappers. Zaps go up. But in this case they're not Zaps, they're Monero payments.

I love lightning and zaps, but the best solution for payments on Nostr is the one people will actually use, and in order for people to want to use payments, friction needs to be removed/reduced. I don’t think Monero necessarily fixes it either, because I imagine even fewer people have Monero than those with Bitcoin. But I do know that Bitcoiners by and large have a “hodl only, never-spend” mentality and that is extremely limiting on the network’s economic growth. Nostr needs seamless payments that people will actually use, Bitcoin or otherwise.

We've had like 6M+ zaps. Lightning has its own headaches for ease of use, but I think we showed that we were willing to send zaps.

We showed what’s possible, but I disagree that Nostr has demonstrated a widespread willingness to spend bitcoin. Most people don’t even have bitcoin in the first place, and most of those who do won’t spend it. Most people want to hodl sats for NgU, and I’ve heard several say they don’t want to spend sats due to tax implications. Fiat-to-Bitcoin services like Cashapp and Strike would go a long way to help if they were somehow integrated more seamlessly into Nostr apps.

Why are you guys doxxing yourselves and potentially your tippers?

A state or corporate actor could get some seriously juicy data out of timing and amount data as far as I can tell.

Day 7 update having a Monero payment target on my profile to compare zaps and xaps. - 4185 sats (≈$3.23, 40 zaps) - 0.01 XMR (≈53¢, 1 xap) Someone in the thread yesterday accused me of promoting Monero 😂 I’ll sure as heck promote any new way for creators to monetize content, but no I’m not being paid or asked to promote anything. This is of my own personal curiosity. If people want to have a bitcoin circular economy then they need to start spending their fucking bitcoin like it’s money.
