Day 7 update having a Monero payment target on my profile to compare zaps and xaps. - 4185 sats (≈$3.23, 40 zaps) - 0.01 XMR (≈53¢, 1 xap) Someone in the thread yesterday accused me of promoting Monero 😂 I’ll sure as heck promote any new way for creators to monetize content, but no I’m not being paid or asked to promote anything. This is of my own personal curiosity. If people want to have a bitcoin circular economy then they need to start spending their fucking bitcoin like it’s money. Otherwise people are going to spend and accept OTHER currencies. Not hard to understand 🤷‍♂️ View quoted note →

I saw this thread and set up a Monero payment target on Nosmero yesterday. Day 1 Progress: - 0 Zaps⚡ - 0 Xaps
🤣 I'm playing devils advocate but I didn't expect this response. I figured you didn't know what it was. I didn't until a couple of months back. But I thought you'd look it up out of genuine curiosity. I was curious. Curious to know if you thought that it might explain what you're observing. So you're running an experiment without curiosity. You had your mind made up before even running the experiment. Your name is corndalorian which means you must like star wars at a certain point. I'm guessing you heard the quote "only a sith deals in absolutes"... image
“they need to start spending their fucking bitcoin like it’s money” AKA spend the scarcest asset on earth on your posts? I think we’ll stick with our 1 sat zaps for your “content.” View quoted note →
I can only wonder where we were supposed to get value from if bitcoiners don't spend. So nostr as a v4v narrative was a lie to begin with
I just re-downloaded MetaMask to check in on the wasteland of my old wallet to see what scraps were left, and hoooleee shit, it’s just a pile of airdop spam and nonsense. Completely unusable product. How does anyone put up with this?

Your experiment highlights a key tension—Bitcoin’s store-of-value narrative vs. its utility as a medium of exchange. But liquidity matters: ETF flows show even institutional holders churn positions (e.g., $500M outflows last month). Spending may stabilize if volatility drops.
I’m admittedly ignorant about all this 😂 But I’m using Cake wallet and it looks like the minimum it will let you swap is about $5. You can send a single unit of monero (0.000000000001 XMR) but you’d still have to pay the regular transaction fees (couple of cents per transaction from what I’ve seen so far)
Yeah i haven’t gotten that deep 😂 Cake wallet supports lightning so in theory you should be able to swap out to bitcoin and then send to any lightning wallet. In theory 🤣

How does this work? How do you set up the Monero payment target?
Day 8 update since adding a Monero payment target to my profile, comparing zaps and xaps. @Saberhagen The Nameless asked yesterday about the running total, so I’ll include that below too along with average zap/xap sizes. Day 8 totals: - 3185 sats, ($2.44, 27 zaps) - 0.09811 XMR, ($52.66, 2 xaps) Running totals: - 29270 sats ($22.45) - Avg. zap: 148 sats (11¢) - 0.1555652 XMR ($83.57) - Avg. xap: 0.012 XMR ($6.45) Shoutout to whoever sent that FAT xap yesterday, over $50 worth of XMR 👀🔥 View quoted note →
