If Google does not change its stance before September, assume some apps won't work on Google-controlled devices. For those using Zapstore on the Guulag, we will attempt to identify apps such that users can know/filter beforehand. At the same time, we will take the opportunity for a marketing campaign emphasizing: "Google owns your device and is limiting your options. If you want to fully unlock all apps, use @GrapheneOS or other alternative ROM." Hoping to leverage this insanity against their control.

GM @Zapstore the app has been great! But I have a question. Similar to Github and F-Droid, will apps from zapstore still download and be usable on an android phone in September 2026? This is what appears on F-Droid, for those not aware: https://keepandroidopen.org/ image #asknostr

#GrapheneOS is free to install yourself. As of next year though, Motorola flagships will ship with Graphene pre installed. At the moment you will need a Pixel device
No, it’s like installing windows or Linux on your laptop. Different os, same internet.
Verizon is your data/call provider. So whatever you're paying for that will remain the same. If you're thinking of going private, buy a phone for cash, so it isn't linked to your ID and then get #silent.link esim.
I have a Galaxy, theyre very annoying for that kind of stuff. Id rather just get a new phone than deal with that again 🤣 Ive used Lineage before though, love it!

While California and Colorado states passed a law forcing all operating systems to implement age verification within their operating systems, including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.)
It's already there in the logo! Bite out of the apple similar to Adam and Eve accepting the tempting offer of the serpent to sin against God in the garden of Eden. image Genesis 3:1-7 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

Till evil Google is locking the opensource Google platform, blocking alternative OS from running completely, which they will! What then? We need to push alternative OS which have nothing to do with Android like PostmarketOS, Ubuntu Touch or similar!

First word I heard. Iv been looking into graphene. Thats not Linux is it?
What phone do you have? #lineage most probably runs on it. It is not hardened or so. But I ran Lineage and would say for whoever is concerned for running libre software this OS works fine. No need for buying new stuff in order to keep on using what you like.
Go to any hackernews thread where that gov-sponsored distribution is criticized by cybersecurity experts in the past years and see for yourself how their comments are quickly burried on a flood of bot answers. You never wondered yourself by they'd force users to use what can be described as phone spyware device instead of any other normal phone because "reasons". After years of criticisms, they finally announce a second option and this time with a long time NSA contractor. Previously they were caught promoting other gov-founded projects and have since toned down because, well, it was obvious.
Its a Galaxy, not worth the hassle. Want something less garbage anyway lol Might wait for the Motorola
I assume this is about the developers having to give their credentials to file before they are allowed to offer their apps. First off, there is no bad side to this for the user, at least if devs are going to upload apps that may clear their QC, it’s nice to know they are actually sanctioned and being regulated by Google. Secondly, if you flash a custom rom, you just tossed safetynet out the window so your device is definitely going to show up as “uncertified”, making what you download even more difficult. I honestly don’t understand what y’all have against this, I don’t know about you but I would prefer to know exactly who created my app and that they can be held accountable for it. TL;DR You think you’re beating Google by flashing a custom rom when the code that rom is sung is still coming from Google. Unless graphene can figure out a way to fork all of AOSP, you will always be at the mercy of Google.
In a free place, you give your data IF YOU WANT DO IT. I don't want a "safety" net created by thieves. I don't need know about who exactly is the developer of my app, i need to know what it will know about me. Yes, it will change for now, the Android will be closed and so for. But we have Linux too, or you don't will use it if the government don't give you a permit?
Linux is great thing but, the people around it are in evil ways, will they change the android kernel by another firmware ?

While I am using gos, I can't wait to see a real alternative
There are different levels of secure. At level 1 is the normal stock Android you buy on the stores. Securer option are no-brand cheap chinese phones. Awful quality for sure, but they don't afford to bother themselves in locking the device too much nor incorporating deviations from the original AOSP. Google services and others track your phone 24/7 anyways. Best thing you can is custom encrypt some folders, gives some privacy. At level 2 you've got the modified Android distros . Claude and Codex do a good work flashing these phones for your with a distro, my own choice typically falls on LineageOS. Drawback is that banking apps stop working but life without google services is a boost in privacy right there. Zapstore is most needed at this level, given that Google Play is gone for most of the scenarios. Extra points when you go with Pinephone or similar. At level 3 you skip installing Android and go for PostMarketOS. There you can trust the software won't rat on you and can still launch most Android apps in addition to anything that runs on a normal desktop. Works great nowadays but there is a drawback: battery life tends to be less. Going deeper outside google you need to ditch Android in favour of ESP32 to skip spyware entirely. At this point only the network can spy on you since the device is still depending on IP addresses. Last frontier for secure is your ESP32 ditching the internet completly, using radio packets. Send and receive data from anywhere in the globe using some of the freely available satellites.
I would rather be fairly certain that the apps I am downloading aren’t malicious in nature, and while neither App Store has a 100% guarantee of this, I will trust the companies who profit from their stores rather than fly by night developers that you know nothing about. It’s absolutely hilarious how ignorant y’all can be just to try and rationalize your back ass logic..🤦🏻‍♂️
