The term influencer has become a kind of slur that doesn't mean anything.
Self sovereignty is the foundation of free will.
I don't see where influencers enter that equation except in their ability to communicate with large groups of individuals.

Communication, I think, requires a flow/activity from both ends. And from what I see of influencers, they mostly talk at people, not with them. The difference is in the details...
There are people like that for sure. I imagine if I was getting hundreds of replies to my posts I might seem that way as well..
I tend to think of people as individuals rather than the labels we place on them.
In that sense I couldn't name a single influencer. Who comes to mind?
“Being an influencer” and “having influence” are two different things.
Who decides who gets labeled as an influencer?
For me, the term "influencer" has become close cousin to "celebrity"—running a show for the sake of a show (and incentives), describing someone with reach, but not necessarily an impactful mission.
I don't bother listing names here, as this group rarely do have any actionable influence on me anyway.
Instead, whether in the fiat/mainstream world or in Bitcoin, I look to mentors, thinkers, and doers: living examples of integrity and humble approach, people who can inspire or challenge my thinking. Individuals I respect—but don’t blindly follow.
And for that category—yes, I can definitely put a few names from the public sphere: be Dr. Jack Kruse, Simon Dixon, Rob Brinded, Lyn Alden, Bret Weinstein, a Midwestern Doctor. And to close with my inner circle: lie kmy my father and my husband as well.
Oh, and in case it’s a matter of definitions, I didn’t mean to attack your view. I simply wanted to express mine. Adding my 2 SATs 🙃
context
“Influencer” today typically means an Internet or social media celebrity/personality. To say the term has no meaning is to ignore the very real impact they have on people’s habits, mindsets, and behaviors. Not all who call themselves influencers have influence, but there are people with real and powerful influence online, whether or not they consider themselves “influencers”
In every niche there are individuals who gain/earn a voice among their peers, and who develop real influence over them. I would call them “influencers”
Beautiful 🙏
It's true that the term has some meaning. I suppose I have seen it used mostly as a way to dismiss opinions or individuals.
Personally I like to address ideas directly whenever possible rather than character.
I've Also personally never met someone or even heard someone online say that they are an influencer.
However, I live under a very particular rock of my own choosing so I might just be blind to that sort of thing.
You’re probably not going to hear someone puffing away on a cigarette call themselves an addict either
Thank you 🙏
