Good morning! This Nostr newbie has lost sleep and been up all night due to the excitement over this platform. Also, due to the fact that I’m having a lot of trouble figuring things out. Lots of people have told me to get my music on Wavlake and fountain. I downloaded those apps, but I have not figured out how to use them or share my music through them. I have also tried to set up an account with Alby and It’s very confusing. I went to the website and it seems like I have set something up, but I have no idea what. Any advice in these areas would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy your day!

I've only use nostr:nprofile1qqsx2wyjt6lmvc05rrvv05r5hm3w3t7h0pcpmkyswrpd4ymd2u09tscpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3kamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu339e682mnwv4k8xct5wvhxxmmdqywhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68yttsw43zuam9d3kx7unyv4ezumn9wscn3xgh and nostr:nprofile1qqszy58kj62v9fpe98nhuh0q76np4e0r0g0wd44rhth3wphdnyqjfzcpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwashvmrpddjjucm0d5q3samnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwdhx7un59eek7cmfv9kqurnrls as a consumer so I'm not the best help here. This might help: https://wavlake.com/studio https://support.fountain.fm/article/110-how-do-i-add-my-music-to-fountain#:~:text=You%20can't%20upload%20your,make%20it%20available%20in%20Fountain.&text=Upload%20as%20many%20tracks%20to%20Wavlake%20as%20you%20like%20for%20free. As for the wallet, I'll recommend checking out nostr:nprofile1qqstxwlea9ah3u6kjjszu6a7lrnhqkfh8eptp2z6v0e9558tlkkl2rgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszxnhwden5te0wfjkccte9ekkjmnfvf5hguewvdshx6p07xr4s5 or nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucm0d9hx7uewd9hj75a0pev for an easy to use lightning address. Alby is great if you're running your own node at home but there's other free options if you need a hosted solution.

Hi Danny! Nice to have you here. I remember the confusion when I joined up. It will all come together, glad you're curious. As far as signing up for Wavlake, I think the FAQ would be a great place to start. Check out the I’m an artist. How do I get started? section: https://wavlake.notion.site/Wavlake-Guide-e560557ae4ba4e06ac20c06fb33556a3. Also Fountain has a getting started guide as well: https://support.fountain.fm/article/110-how-do-i-add-my-music-to-fountain. These aren't the only places to host your music either, there's also LNBeats: https://lnbeats.com/. With regards to your LIghtning Wallet, there are two ways: 1) Non-Custodial meaning you have some hardware where you host your Lightning services or 2) Custodial - where someone else hosts your Lightning services. Alby is Non-custodial, meaning if you have an old PC or a server you can install the Lightning services, open your own channel and run things yourself. They also have an Alby Cloud version, which is still non-custodial, but they take care of all the heavy lifting, you still have to fund your channel and it has a small fee taken out of your wallet for the services each month This is the end goal, eventually. But for now, a great place to start is as what Patrick said below. Choose a Custodial wallet like Minibits, CoinOS or Lifpay. You can fund your Lightning wallet by offering goods or services or using exchanges (River, CashApp, Strike just to name a few). But you'll definitely want to continue your research. There are a ton of great resources out there, but it's worth the effort. nostr:nprofile1qyvhwue69uhkyat8d4skutndva6hjtnwv46r5dpcxsuqz9nhwden5te0vfjhgcfwdehhxarjd9kzucmpd5q3kamnwvaz7tmxv4jkguewdehhxarj9e3xzmny9a6x7mneqyvhwumn8ghj7urjv4kkjatd9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszynhwden5te0wp6hyurvv4cxzeewv4esz9rhwden5te0wfjkccte9ejxzmt4wvhxjmcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqghwaehxw309aex2mrp09ejuerfvank7mewvdhk6qpqrxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4s0u0ajg offers really great tutorials to get you started on your way to self-sovereignty!

LNBeats is only a music player, and my personal favorite for being the only podcasting 2.0 app to easily surface music hosted outside wavlake. Fountain, LNBeats, Podverse all pull their music (in this case music published to an RSS feed) from https://podcastindex.org/ In addition, The Podcast Index is also not a hosting company. They are an open source repository of sorts for RSS feeds coming in from every where. The creator of LNbeats made http://musicsideproject.com/ that you can use as a tool for self hosting all your music. You’d use the site to build an rss feed, upload it to your website along with your tracks, then submit the new music url to the Podcast Index. I’ve seen people doing really cool stuff with their music going about it in this fashion. You can use new features like adding subtitles as lyrics that show up in some apps, chapters to make “still music videos”, and add any many people that you’d want to the wallet splits. Check out what nostr:npub12q9x4g8kkw5hj47a0f3e39jlxarfp8h6atasvr7fc8ks0j3f3ctq0870wm published recently using Stevens methods (the best part is the feeds work with audio and video): https://podverse.fm/episode/_UsYskUF1

"...beeing up all night ..." Lol I remember doing the same when I joined some month ago. Relax, it takes a little but it will all fall into place. Now for the fun part - not really professional but perfectly possible: attach music to a note that's it. (with your client, I guess you use Primal for now) People might start zapping you right away. I'm testing it for you ⚡

I made this in part using nostr:npub1yvgrrzf4dnmu30qfhw95x87ruu0g2kpv3a64h8hpvqsre8qeuspsgd6pv9 's tools https://lnbeats.com/album/79aaf6c1-b95e-5c5d-8181-bf572f959d5c/ Hosting your own music and being self sovereign way is easier than you may think. There are a ton of us here in the valueverse who are more than happy to help you. https://musicsideproject.com/ is an excellent place to start. If you have any questions please reach out.

If you're new, you probably don't want to rush into starting your own lightning node with Alby. You should start with a basic custodial wallet, like Minibits or Coinos.io, til you get the hang of sending and receiving lightning payments. When you start buying and accumulating larger amounts of Bitcoin, then you can look into a Lightning node with Alby or other providers.
