I can't wait for the apologists to tell you why. 🤦 Hitler bombed the civilians in London and found out that it didn't work. Now Putin tried again. If you bomb civilians, you just make them hate you more. "Don't recruit for the enemy."

No, it's not that simple. Hitler ineffectively bombed civilians at an enormous cost of thousands of bombers and their crew. The Blitz only lasted 8 months, and only killed 43,000 people. Sounds like a lot now. But remember in the same time period roughly an equal number of British soldiers died. And the Blitz was fairly localized with the supermajority of damage being done to London. There certainly is a path to Russia winning this via killing civilians. Right now Ukraine has something like a 90% to 95% interception rate on Russian drones. If that rate dropped, and Russia succeeded at ramping up drone production like they want to, and kept it up, far more buildings would be getting destroyed and Ukraine would actually run out of housing. Since Russian drones have very long ranges, all of Ukraine would be affect. Inevitably people would flee to the west, the economy would collapse, and Russia would succeed. Hate isn't relevant here. Opposition to Russia in Ukraine is about as close to 100% as it'll ever get. If anything the risk to Ukraine is people getting tired of it all and giving up. Conversely, Ukraine absolutely should be hitting "civilian" targets in Russia. All working Russians are valid military targets. Hitting a wider variety of Russian targets would spread their air defenses even thinner. Ukraine is already hitting railway stations. They should also be targeting civilian airports in Russia – air travel is a significant part of the economy, and it directly targets the rich who have the most impact on the economy. And of course, Ukraine needs to be targeting a lot more of the Russian power grid.
