One of my favorites! You're a rare one. Not many I talk to know of this film. I often speak of how well it's put together. Like a crystal, each aspect of the story a hologram of the full, the gorgeous visuals. Then people are like where is it streaming where can I find it? And I'm like, well when I first watched it I rented it from blockbuster, I could've bought it for $20. Now every time I wasn't to die it to people I check the price on eBay and it's up around $260 right now🀷🏽 so I go to the local movie store I buy posters from and rent it for $5
I had it on DVD πŸ“€ it cost me $29.99 and I gave it away in a garage sale when I though I could just stream any movies I like forever at any time. I love colours and the slight twists in the story as perceived in the child’s mind. So many good themes of love, loss, recovery and vengeance. I try to make it for the live stream.
Mmmm... Slightly disagree. I think it's just need to know where to look. Films I consider perfect though are extremely rare so yes I hope you really really enjoy this one!
Tarsem, I only know of two things he's done. I think he might work commercials. But truly, with only 2 films, one I would absolutely call an Auteur.
I'm a big Darren Aronofsky fan -- into deep, cerebral, psychological, symbolic and spiritual movies. More often than not sci-fi or fantasy settings. Also love historical stories and contexts. I guess it is a wide spectrum -- anything from the typical blockbuster classics like Braveheart, Matrix, Lord of the Rings to Vanilla Sky, The Last Temptation of Christ and The Holy Mountain. Looking for great, mindbending stories and amazing artistic expression. Interested to know what you've got up your sleeve... Thanks!
@Se7enZ I'm excited to do some thinking and give you a personalized list from these that you gave me. Would you mind though retagging me on this tomorrow? I'm finding myself really busy with movie night today! If you haven't seen this comment from yesterday, done of these night hold you over in the meantime 🀷🏽 View quoted note β†’
It helped with this film for sure! He shot background plates in over 28 countries. And when you watch films that hate plates it's usually a 2nd unit right? They try to match the feel the colors. But it does somewhat feel phoned in. Nah. Tarsem was like I'm sitting this commercial here? Let me lovingly and with vision get this plate for this film I have in the back of my head.
@Nosnevets Thank you, mah man! Love to see The Holy Mountain already on there, too. Paprika and Stalker are completely new to me and I'll be acquiring the whole list for review :) Take your time on any additional recommendations, but I remain interested. Cheers man and happy movie night, every night.
Same thread a reply to this comment I added don't great TV series too!
