I finally decided to do the plunge and try #monero out.
Here is what I plan to do:
π² Install a Monero node on the Desktop
π² Install a Monero wallet on the Desktop
π² Buy around $25 of Monero
π² Install a Monero wallet on my cellphone
π² Send monero to myself
π² Send Monero to my brother
I am not sure I will do it all in this order. What I am sure is that I would love your guys help on the way. I plan to update this note as I go along.
Let the adventure begin!

Sugestion: CAKE WALLET
Cake wallet is fine, you could also go monero only with monero.com on your phone (it's cake wallet's monero only wallet)
For desktop I suggest the monero GUI wallet (node included) from getmonero.org (also good resource on all things monero)
For the desktop I am suing the cli wallet. I like the command line. For the cellphone I will go with your recommendations and try cake wallet.
on desktop i use cake wallet too.
I have monero gui, but, how i have others coin, like nano, bitcoin, solana and monero, cake wallet work wll.
to help monero, i use XMRIG, to miner.
I am a Monero maximalist π Nah... I am just joking.
I really want to play with smart contracts. But one step at a time. First cover the Monero use cases.
I am afraid of the resource consumption of mining and of a full node (which you need for mining). I will have to get a new SSD or Nvme drive for a full node and a way to limit the resource consumption of the miner (maybe run it in a VM with a fixed amount of cores?).
One step at a time. Let's get the basic use case (using it as money) under way and then go to advanced mode.
Eu sou Monero maximalista.
You can run a pruned Monero node, and that takes up about 100 GB instead of the 250 that I full-node would.
Depending on just how serious you are, you might want to consider taking a look at a Monero wallet that does not have fiat APIs at all built in. I don't know of any desktop wallets, but I know that Monfluo on Android doesn't
That is what I am running. But I understand that you can't mine with a pruned node. Or am I wrong?
You can mine with a remote node that enables ZMC.
Just need to configure Gupax or Gupaxx.
ZMQ
That is incorrect. You can mine with a pruned node. I've been doing so for over a year now. All it needs is ZMQ enabled.
Good to know!
I will add it to my list and try it out!
Lfg
Yes, correct
I'm glad I can help...
Try running your own node?
