You can run a pruned Monero node, and that takes up about 100 GB instead of the 250 that I full-node would.

That is what I am running. But I understand that you can't mine with a pruned node. Or am I wrong?
You can mine with a remote node that enables ZMC.
Just need to configure Gupax or Gupaxx.
