Billionaire Rob Citrone, whose hedge fund bet heavily on Argentina, pressed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, his longtime friend and former colleague, to rescue the country, according to Argentine media. Shortly thereafter, Bessent announced a $20 billion taxpayer-funded bailout. 2. CE Noticias Financieras, a wire service in Latin America, reported that after the bailout faced resistance w/lower-level Trump officials, “Citrone managed to connect with Bessent to get him to intervene directly.” 3. Ariel Maciel, Political Economy Editor at Perfil, a large Argentine media outlet, said on an Argentine broadcast, “Citrone is really the one who intervenes. He basically tells Bessent, ‘Hey, we need to help in Argentina,.” 4. Popular Information contacted Citrone's hedge fund, Discovery Capital, and asked if these reports in Argentine media were accurate. Discovery Capital declined to comment. 5. Another major issue is that as the Argentine economy was in a complete tailspin in early September, Citrone BOUGHT MORE BONDS. Maciel reports the timing of Citrone’s recent purchases has raised “suspicions” that Citrone had access to “confidential information.”

A U.S. citizen, he said agents broke through his door and dragged him out in zip ties. Johnson said he was left tied up outside the building for nearly three hours before agents finally let him go. “I asked [agents] why they were holding me if I was an American citizen, and they said I had to wait until they looked me up,” Johnson said. “I asked if they had a warrant, and I asked for a lawyer. They never brought one.”

A privacy topic to consider: “The Biden Administration shut down DHS’s location data purchases after an inspector general found that DHS had broken the law. Every American should be concerned that Trump's hand-picked security force is once again buying and using location data without a warrant,” Senator Ron Wyden told 404 Media in a statement.
