Likes are Fiat. Zaps are Bitcoin. (Literally) Likes/reactions are dark patterns. Zaps will free us. The design specs for the @npub17vsc...66ne video player have been set. Zaps will replace Likes. There will be no "like" button. Double tap to zap. IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN (in a notion ticket)

1 sat likes should be the standard. Till costco hotdogs 🌭 reach 1 sat then we reconfigure the standard.
Hey! We're going to drop a bonus episode of the pod (and a video version ☺️) soon to give an update on everything. There is lots of progress. Taking our time to make sure it's worth everyone's attention when we launch 🙌🏽
"THERE IS NO LIKE BUTTON" *proceeds to like* I really don’t like this argument in all honesty, I get the pull of it, but to like something vs to find genuine value in something is 2 different things.
In the world of value for value why should anyone be able to get your attention (via a notification) for just pushing a button. My attention requires effort (comments) or support (zaps or reposts). Otherwise you're just a view count which in my opinion showing is a dark pattern. Tiktok shows the number of likes but doesn't let get you access who liked it. Instead they lean on the number of views as the most important metric. But we have zaps. So we don't need either.
Yes. Exactly. Zaps are a better invention than the Like button.

No? It’s a stand alone thing? Why take away the ability to say you like something just because you have to add value proposition to absolutely everything? It doesn’t make sense.
I don’t consider it at all, considering the zap feature has already been implemented, it makes more logical sense to have choice.
I've been doing this actually. I express appreciation with comments and gratitude with zaps. I just don't believe everybody need to.
I mean I’ve been on Nostr since this long… And I still think likes are relevant. image
I believe in first principles and the basics. I think Bitcoin and Zaps are absolute game changers for reaching escape velocity and scaling the network. But people are conditioned to legacy protocols, and removing the like button right away would be too confusing for normies.
Plus I don’t think you should have to add value proposition to absolutely everything, you can like something in real life and not have to purchase it.
If you care to, check out what we're trying to accomplish at @nextblock. People can earn Bitcoin watching promoted content every Bitcoin block. We believe having a Bitcoin faucet while you scroll will facilitate that behavioral change and normalize something like a 1 sat zap. Our mission is to ensure everything we offer has a value proposition in hopes that it won't just create another dark pattern, addiction machine. This is just one of the many things we want to do differently. It's an experiment but I'm hopeful. I think we pull it off. Our roadmap explains how.
