Some essential characteristics of Mutiny Wallet.
Non-custodial:
- You are in control of your keys
- The node runs on your device
- Any critical data that exists is saved on your device and encrypted remotely for backups
Not an LSP:
- We do not run a node or LSP, we interface with others
- You may open channels to any node
- We never process any lightning channel, payments, on-chain txs, UTXOs, etc.
- Our lightning address server is built with blinded auth, and we can't link payments to your node
Open-source:
- MIT
- The web app is available in case app stores go down
- Self-hostable, already bundled with start9
We strongly believe in building software that gives users the most control and least dependence upon us. It's not easy; centralization brings a much better user experience. However, for the longevity of ourselves, our product, and our users, this is what we believe is the correct path to take.

You aren't leaving the US too are you?
I attest. It serves me very well so far. All that would be missing would be LNURL 🙏🏻
💯 👏🏻
Mutiny is pretty badass

Bless you!
Even if they’re kicked off US app stores against their will, the web app will work.
Mutiny powering people
This is the way.
Mutiny!
thank you team 💯
❤️ you guys. Question though - what’s the process to go to the PWA if the app gets pulled from iOS/android?
Just restore the seed words in the PWA.
Sick. Thank you!
what are the diffs with Zeus ? they run a local node too now, right ?
🔥

Sounds legit. @OpenSecret - what would you say is the biggest (or, the only) drawback in your model? Fair question?
We don't have official support for multiple LSPs yet. Our current one is running into scaling issues and we're both unhappy with it being built on CLN. Moving off and supporting others is going to take some time.
What’s been wrong with CLN? Are interoperability issues with LND a problem?
Ok now lets do it
As long as every part of your wallet can be Free Software (including what's behind Mutiny+ right now), then I can consider it. Granted, Nostr is based upon custodial wallets, which isn't really a good idea now that I've heard more about what Lightning had become.
Mutiny is open source and works amazingly well with Nostr. With their paid service you can even get a lightning address. I’m very happy with the product.
“Any critical data that exists is saved on your device and encrypted remotely for backups”, what critical data is backed up outside the user’s own device?
Okay, but is it custodial. It looks like a mix of custodial and non-custodial, so I'm not sure exactly how to approach this.
Now taking a look at this, I am approaching the non-custodial thing with some skepticism.
Thanks for taking the time effort and trouble to walk this path; really enjoyed listening to the team explain approaches, ideas and solutions on the Dispatch rip 🤜🤛
Thank you! 🌻

You can choose what mint you want to use. There is some risk, but you also gain privacy from the eCash that's under the hood of the fedmint and it is a lot more easy than managing channels.
I hope they will let you add multiple mints soon and open channels to them. That way you can push only enough liquidity for daily spending. Like carrying cash in your physical wallet.
Thanks!
If your lightning address server goes offline. What happens?
You can’t receive while offline, basically. Although with mints you can or will be able to. I listened to Ben say they are working on it
What if the PWA goes away? Can you self host, restore from your seed words and still have your funds?
In other words, can you transfer from your hosted PWA to my hosted PWA if needed?
Can we import existing wallets (12 words) into this wallet system?
are you a transmitter though? thats the real question 🙋♂️
