I feel like wanting to jail war criminals and being vegan aren't as closely associated as you say they are. I was hoping that I was missing or misunderstanding some aspect of your reasoning.
Vegans are definitely more ready to take down war criminals than carnivores, even though both groups are held back by tricknology
