I lived in Madeira for a year. Not the place for anyone with a fear of heights (like me). Unless they're planning to go straight to Funchal from the airport and stay in Funchal, they're in for a hair-raising ride. There are only cliffs, ravines and tunnels. I moved to the Portuguese mainland.
