Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Non-believers, aka, non-Christians

The book of Revaluation is symbolic in it's imagery. There are varying descriptions throughout the Bible of being cast out of the kingdom of heaven. This particular verse probably shouldn't be taken literally. But whatever it looks like, not being accepted back into God's presence is certainly not a desirable outcome for all eternity. It's important to differentiate between those who hear the Word and choose to ignore it, and those who never get the chance to hear it. The Bible hints that the latter will get a second chance when Christ returns to Earth for a thousand year reign.
I have no issue with it being taken literally, but that wasn't my point. My point was what's the basis for saying God's judgment is eternal is sick? If God created us, he can hold us to whatever standard or end he wants. Our ridiculously puny conception of justice is meaningless compared to God's holiness. Regardless of what you think of the Bible, if God is real, there is no escaping his purposes. If he's not real, then saying anything about it is meaningless (because no God means all things are meaningless).
Irenaeus affirmed around 120 ad that Revelation was Scripture. He was trained by Polycarp, who was a student of John of Patmos, who wrote it. Polycarp gave Irenaeus his info about the apostles, including what was considered Scripture by the early church. Revelation should be taken seriously as Scripture, though we can debate how exactly to read it.
