I know you didn’t ask me but my take: we have to look to the next generation. What are they going to want and be interested in? I know I’m passionate about #damus because we can build a social experience I would be happy to introduce our son to.

I dont think its a fad. I think we will lool back at much of its a mistake, 100%. imo the difference will how we share and consume it. Phones > wearables (love it or hate it). I think the end is near for "hunched over a phone typing and scrolling", but I think its only the beginning for social media as a whole.

That seems plausible. Increasingly now it already seems that Poasters are an elite, and lurkers/scrollers who never post (along with tackling their scrolling addiction). A return to the TV viewer / scheduled programs dynamic lol. And with the new bills being passed, you might want to be quite rich to post online, are you lawyered up? So you have social media legal insurance? Lol. Leave it to the jk rowlings of the world to post your views. Is it really worth losing your rented pod over a post?

(But obviously this is already here, even outside of a legal system. People are banished from friendships and lose their jobs from posts all the time.

Also I forgot to add that I think Damus / nostr in general is a very worthwhile project, obviously. 🫡 Merely speculating about where everything is going lol, instead of going to bed

I can totally see it happening, partially because rurally it's already happening. People are moving around, looking for that lifestyle... partially because the ai world is going to turn everything online on its head eventually... and partially because mental health & all that. Probably a dozen other reasons too. I doubt it will ever completely die but I could see relevance being greatly reduced, maybe even in the next decade or 2.
