I think the BEST way to get more people on nostr is the Share button.
Share posts from nostr to other platform.
That’s our best way to get people here.
That’s really how we learned about any new social media, someone shared a link with us, we liked it, we joined.
This is why we need a EXCELLENT Web Onboarding.
Example:
I like something while using Damus/Primal/any nostr client, I share it out, someone finds it and gets to Damus/Primal/etc website, they read the post, try to sign up and hit a wall….
> Fix the point of entry.
Encouraging the user to download the app with a banner on the website is ok. That works. Anything less than that is bad UX, don’t even offer a share button if you don’t offer a landing site.

this also requires EXCELLENT, share-worthy content. MOAR video 🙏
Yes… but all content also works.
We share news from X to Reddit.
It’s ok, we can share regular news from nostr to Reddit too.
Yep. Ok to make people come to your web client too. Doesn’t need to use njump
Yep, good idea. @PodSystems is doing it with their content. Cross posting it to Twitter, leaving some exclusive content here.
Getting people here isn't the problem, although, it could use help too.
Getting people to stay is where it falls apart.
Would be interesting to see how true this actually is with current algos on legacy platforms. They prioritize video and content that keeps people on platforms. Written content is somewhat dead. It would have to be really, really good—meaning controversial for X 😆
What Nostr content do we know translates well to other platforms? Because shilling “Nostr so good” has only gotten us so far.
It’s a game of numbers.
The more people come the more some will stay, until it hits a critical mass that can grow on its own after.
Be the change you want to see.
I just shared a link to the most popular trending thing of the day on here on X… let’s see how it does 🤷♀️

It's hard to reverse a negative first impression, so I believe it's better to ensure at least minimal usability and comfort before promoting a service. Besides, it's difficult to recommend a social platform (whether a microblogging app, messenger, or anything similar) if users aren't confident that their direct messages will actually be delivered.
And what about inviting people who've been deplatformed or censored on centralized social media platforms ? And educating them about the benefits of nostr with censorship resistance ? There's a long list of people who think there's no alternative ...
Hair
Agreed. We have come a long way.
The apps now are really good.
No need to look for people who have the need, those will find you naturally.
@paul keating has the best hair in Nostr
I’d swap the bookmark button for a quick share button personally.
Agreed.
Share ditto links about vibe coded projects on r/vibecoding
That’s one example.
I think @Derek Ross has been doing that
From time to time.
