If you own a lightning channel on Zeus for example it it 100 percent self custody. This does not apply to like cash app or anything like that. If you own the lightning channel it is self custody. You have the seed phrase… I can spell stuff however I please . You’re missing the whole entire point of his original note. If the channel gets closed either by you or by your peer , then your sats go to the onchain address that you hold the keys for . So like if your phone was lost or destroyed you could recover the funds with your private key 🔑 Lightning can be self custody Depending on your set up

Having your own lightning ⚡️ channels used to be difficult Now with things like breeze or Zeus… a node is running on your phone. You can open and close channels with ease. I’m a cold storage maxi to be clear. I wouldn’t want large amounts necessary in lightning channels . But it can be self custody with lightning. My bad for trying to educate you. lol
