Calling all CAD capable 3D printers. I'm the market for gears. Will pay corn.

Oh how I wish I could be the guy π€€ Some day
I only could make the CAD file. Is it urgent? What exactly do you need?
For printing you would still have to find someone.
I think i can work out the print if you can get the file together. I need gears.
1ΒΎ" diameter
30 teeth
3/16" thickness
5/16" center hole
Teeth just need to work with one another. We aren't trying to match anything existing.
Are we talking the file type that would be compatible with a 3D printer, like plug and play style? That I can absolutely work with. And I would absolutely compensate your time.
Beveled teeth like this would be great but afaik, it isn't necessary.

Sure, it would be a printable file .3mf or .stl
Pretty much every file type can be exported from the CAD.
step files work with bambu printers as well and they are more accurate.
I'll have a quick look. Give me a second
Something like this?

Fucking flawless @BTCbeeRancher you getting this?
Done. Height 0.1875"
Where to send? π

Send to @BTCbeeRancher if he's on board and he and I can figure out numbers.
All right.
@BTCbeeRancher how would you like to receive the file?
Do you print?
Not super experienced, but sounds like an interesting project. I've got PLA and ABS on hand to experiment with
Sorry, my intention was to express that I want to print at some point. I currently do not, unfortunately.
If you want to give it a shot, by all means. I don't know how fine a point your printer can work, but it's gonna be pretty fine when it gets to the teeth
No sweat. I do too. One bedroom apartments are not condusive.
@Detective Deft Defector man you're crazy. Many thanks for the sats ππ didn't expect that muchπ
So far no DM received... Damn nostr DMsπ
I'll install oxchat and see if it shows up there
I have been wrestling with this idea for more than a decade and of the dozen people I've tried to talk to in the last couple days, you're the first to nut up and help me. I feel like you deserve more than that. And if this works, I will personally see to it that you have it.
I'm blushing.π I hope everything works well and the gears will smoothly rotate
Kind if excited here, haven't played much with the Qidi for months. Always plenty to do as a trucker with a wife, kids and 30 acres! ππ
Yup, you will receive your nostr DMs more reliable. At least that's my experience with it
I love it! My guy, the odds of what I'm saying actually happening, the odds of this motor I'm playing with working are slim to none.
Do not get excited yet.
But if this works, fuck the truck. You're going to need to buy more printers. And don't think I've forgotten. If you get me those gears, i will not leave you hanging whether it works or not.
But I'm not gonna lie, I'm on edge right now. This idea hit me in like 2012. How to do it came to me the other day, for whatever reason, and i can't stand it I'm so excited to do this.
Already talked to my younger teen boy about we might need to start printing some gears if we can hammer out all the settings and it works for you.
For now, just considering it as an interesting project that I may be able to help someone with. π
I hear the irons issue. My books keep judging me for not reading them, my reps have dwindled, I've got so many circuit boards to pick apart so i can get all my scrap broken down before i move in with my gf. The good news is she's becoming more excited at the prospect of being a mom, something she had no intentions to do before we met. The bad news is all of my other interests will pretty much be out the window when we take that step π
I can't thank you enough for considering it. And forgive me if it seems like I'm putting pressure on you to do this. By all means, do what you need to. I've waited 12 years. I can wait however long it takes. All the more time i have to get ready. I've still got to get the bases ready and figure out a way to angle the magnets. I didn't want to add complexity to the gear design and finding someone to put together a file that was ready to print was time consuming enough. If the prototype does what i think is possible, we can tweak it again when we're ready for that.
