MOST PEOPLE WHO SAY NOSTR WILL NEVER WORK AT SCALE ARE SIMPLY ADDICTED TO TWITTER AND REFUSE TO ADMIT IT TO THEMSELVES.

I deleted twitter 6 years ago and I'm still skeptical of this architecture working at scale. I tend to think monetization of relays will be helpful, and while that is working well for me as a user atm, it remains to be seen if enough people will be willing to pay, or whether the tendency towards centralized entities and hidden costs will just keep reasserting itself.
do you think it will become popular in developing markets where people are blocked from using X (or X is compromised) and may end up using the Tor network to connect to a decentralized nostr?
MIGHT ALSO BE BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO BUSY CANCELLING PEOPLE ON TWITTER. THEY NEED TO FIND OUT HOW EASY IT IS TO CANCEL SOMEONE ON NOSTR 😎

NOSTR HAVE ITS SHORTCOMINGS BUT THEY CAN BE OVERCOME. BUT THE PROBLEMS WITH TWITTER AND OTHER BIG TECH PLATFORMS ARE CAUSED BY THEIR DESIGN.

GM! Nostr will blow up once the inevitable crackdown on big tech social media jumps back into full swing after US elections (maybe). Then more smart people will realize, and the rest will follow. There are still a lot of accounts I follow on X, people who just aren't here yet, but limit my posts to Nostr. But they will come!
something that people don't quite understand yet is that, contrary to Fiat, Bitcoin is entirely voluntary. Everyone, in their own freedom, can choose whether to participate or not. Everyone will at some point, either for will or for need. I had a talk about this with one of my best friends over the weekend, and he said something like “That's what I don't like about Bitcoin, that I can't use it anywhere. It's going to take years for everyone to use it”. my reply was something like “Contrary to Fiat, which is mandated and you are forced to use it, Bitcoin is entirely open and voluntary, Bitcoin will be there when you need it, nobody will force you to use it. But because it's not controlled by anyone, is decentralized, and has no central authority, it's up to us to help it and build the future we want to see. this is not going to happen by itself, we have to work for it. So don't wait for Bitcoin to be accepted everywhere, contribute to the future that you want to see and ask everyone why are they not accepting Bitcoin yet”. So I think Nostr is similar. we have the tools, now it's up to us to use them and spread the word. One can't wait for Nostr to work and be popular to start using it. ⚡
I think people have words that they use, and don't understand. the word scaling and the word decentralization is confusing, and some brains out there are still just broken.

To summarize your argument Claim: Not technically workable. Response: Emotional non-sequitur about Twitter addiction.

True, though I think a lot of people (including myself) would benefit from less social media use overall. I love the multiple uses of nostr but I think replacing Twitter addiction with nostr addiction is a flawed narrative
One observation... if freedom of speech is good because it allows for wars of ideas rather than armies.. the good AND bad of Nostr is there are so few chances here for good BTC ideas to clash with tradfi/fiat normies
X is a cesspool but it's the only place to reach the masses..... the dilemma imo 🤷🏾‍♂️
DELETE ALL YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA AND USE NOSTR THEN TAKE ALL YOUR TIME AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO SET UP A LIGHTNING WALLET AND USE NOSTR THEN TAKE ALL YOUR TIME TO SHILL NOSTR TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND IF ITS SOMETHING YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE AND CANT DELETE IT LIKE TWITTER, SET TIME LIMITS ON IT AND USE NOSTR
Struggling to not become a tech boomer….have a reference on how to do that? Hopefully just by being on Nostr this early I’m marginally successful on keeping up 😅
Depending your client, when you try share a note often you get a link, you could delete the domain part of the link and let only the /nevent1a2b... code, so other users can grab that code and copy-paste it on their preferred clients. It's more a thing of etiquette rather than a hardcore rule.
