So many bad takes about the whole Liquid situation. Yes, Liquid was stupid to allow such a thing to happen. No, white hat or not shouldn’t have taken funds or kept them. Just because something is easy to steal, doesn’t make theft legal. We shouldn’t mix the morality and legality, two different things. I don’t know what is unclear about actions of a group or individual that claims to be a white hat, they still broke the law. If Liquid offers them an “out of jail card” that is up to them, but I don’t think (IANAL) that the act becomes magically legal.

What are we gonna do about it? Cry harder?
The Civilized Man Says Contract Laws Lays Claim to Property.
The Uncivilized Man says Might Makes Right, you only have claim if you can protect your claim, otherwise if you can’t enforce it then it isn’t yours.
What's your take on piracy?
Heh. Yeah, white hats don't steal or even exercise a vuln without proper authorization. Simple. No amount of givebacksies makes this legal in any way either so I guarantee if they're found out, straight to jail.
What’s your take on shoplifting?
this is quite muddy.
it was the OG Might makes Righters, the Aristocracy of the days of yore, who pioneered Contract Law to be able to pass on property to their lineage.
Later, in exploitation of weak points largely manifest due to increasing degeneracy (both literal and figurative) the "civilized" man, the Pleb, the Slave, the bitter mass, employed corrupt "middle class" types much smarter than they to mold contract law into the seizure of private property and redistribution of elite assets.
2000 years later, this culminated in the antichrist nigger theories of Karl Marx and Reigns of Terror the likes of which the world had never imagined.
Both parties operating inside of the City Laws, the Civil #law world, the only real solution for the man of faith and God is to return to where he belongs, the land, where God's Law and the #commonlaw have their power, learn it and exercise it.
Living in Babylon is a curse upon all who choose to do so.
The legal line is prior authorization, not intent. Bug bounties and coordinated disclosure grants exist precisely because good faith alone does not protect you; prosecutors treat unauthorized access the same whether you call yourself helpful or not. Givebacksies are mitigation at sentencing, not a defense.
You're such a loser pretending to be so knowledgeable and at the same time criticize us for simply using bitcoin?
You will never not be a sorry pathetic loser.
Legality don't mean shit about what's right or wrong.
If you leave shittons of other people's money laying around and someone takes it to prevent someone else from stealing it they did you a favour.
But the whole white hat angle could just be some misdirection to stop the thief being identified
If it's Coles or Woolworths 100% justified 100% of the time.
Everyone should steal from them, that should be the only reason to enter the store, they are destroying our economy with their price gauging, people should take back compensation themselves when the government turns against the people.
But my local IGA or the ma and pa owned corner store? No, even if you are hungry you should go somewhere else to steal, for instance, coles or Woolworths.
