People have to walk away from any system that implements this. Have your back up networks in place so that you have minimum disruption but don't wait until it is too late. Governments will do a lot worse to us if they get away with this, so we are now fighting for our lives against them.

I see my future use of the Internet being so narrowed down by authoritarian policies that I’m forced to scrape the BitTorrent Distributed Hash Table myself and then accessing what I want from peers. That is, until they lean on ISPs to take away the Internet connections from people like me.
Maybe I should just create my own version of the Internet, but with blackjack and hookers! 😬

Odd that messenger and WhatsApp ("private" posts) are exempt, but FB/Insta/Threads (public posts) aren't. All are Meta

I believe that they want to make Instagram into an over 18s site eventually anyway.
And nobody under 25 is using Facebook.
But messager and WhatsApp are how perverts get in contact with children.
They are more dangerous than any of the banned apps.
Sportsbet and Pornhub also got exemptions despite their apps fitting the governments definition of social media (being able to make public comments, algorithmic feeds, etc.
Telegram is also exempt.
They know Pornhub is full of porn and gave it an exemption.
It's not about protecting kids from filth or anything like that.
These laws were created to drive up the youth crime rates, because youth crime in Australia is at an all-time low and the youth prisons are losing profits, every empty bed is lost profits
More and more overreaching governments all around the world.
We need to stick together, all of us and resist. In Bulgaria the government has resigned because the people stood up. This is the only way we can stop this totalitarian bullshit.
