if DNM users ever adopt Lightning network it will be through systems like this. spin up a custodial hot wallet without KYC, deposit funds from a mixer and buy your stuff. just sayin'

I just setup a @npub1jluy...p2kq LN node last night. its a great middle ground I think, hosted and custodial (semi-custodial?) but good for just messing around with LN. people like me who are somewhat technical and want privacy coud just spin up a node, open some channels to receive or send funds and then delete the node.

true but it more a question of users I think. *users* aren't really willing to figure out LN and aren't comfortable paying with it if they did. but if they were like you say, markets might run ecash mints. then users, who are used to a custodial wallet that might rug them anyway, would use a mint, or a custodial node service like Rizful, that makes sense for their usecase.
I dont think that's true. Users are accustomed to depositing funds into custodial DNM wallets to make transactions. sometimes they do it straight from exchanges 😫 if instead they could spin up a LN node that they ostensibly control immediately pay an invoice and destroy the node (or not, leave whatever is left in the channel for their next buy) i can see it being a useful payment mechanism with fairly good UX and privacy
