Lightning is the only L2 that enables instant transactions.
By using other trust-based L2s like cashu and ark, Lightning withers and block space gets bloated.
If the Lightning network is only used for transactions that need less trust, rather than using it for all low-value transactions, then its network of nodes will struggle to grow enough to support seamless routing for low value transactions.

How do ark and Cashu bloat blocks? Cashu and ark need less blockspace than pure LN assuming any decent level of use.
Ultimately LN can't scale to 8 billion users and their fridges.
I’m talking about mixing all 3 of them. Block space taken up by other L2s will mean less block space for lightning channels.
If you want billions to use bitcoin without trust-based payments, then Lightning is an important primitive — unlike other L2s.
This also includes Citrea rollups and other L2s…
Ark is only trust based because its CTV cargo culting. Enable CTV and you get it trustless.
That said, ark is not the way forward imo anyway.
You singled out cashu (which uses LN) and ark (which has a tiny footprint if used by thousands upwards).
Cashu is trust-based, even if uses LN…

Have you tried Ark yet?
Nobody claims otherwise.
LN is the glue that lets you use ark with cashu with fedimint with self-custodial lightning or with other custodial lightning.
Every ark user is also an LN user. Same with Cashu. But ark and Cashu allow these users to share lightning channels. Something we need desperately to scale to more users.
