Primal has set the standard for UX by, in large part, developing a *full stack* client that, while still maintaining relays as the authoritative source of notes, is able to deliver the UX that users expect.
Other clients have foolishly hamstrung themselves by demonizing server code even when it serves user interests and in no way compromises user autonomy or #Nostr decentralization.
In other words, purity signalling was costly and gave Primal a huge advantage.

sounds like code 30 debate. “it isn’t going break verified transactions. it’s just something extra that’s not going to get in your way so don’t look over here or talk about it.”
just sayin :)
then again i’m no actual dev of either so… 🤷🏾♂️
I literally can’t use other Nostr apps. I use them for some specific feature and then come right back to primal
I agree to some extent however one criticism: they bitch about creators not wanting to be here on one hand
And yet give their Ten31 investors preferential treatment in the “trending” column. Likewise in the onboarding giving a default list that includes a lot of cronies. Excuse me but Odell is not trending 100% of the time. Part of that is happenstance as the investors are popular, however I believe it is in nostrs interest to attract creators by giving them an initial signal boost. Personally I am an anon and don’t give a shit but I have heard this complaint from many creators that I’d rather see build a censorship resistant base here.
Primal's UX is definitely in its favor.
However, not all criticism of Primal is FUD and purity signaling. There are legitimate concerns.
Great article by @npub1kun5...3lhe.
It correctly highlights what Primal can do to improve the trust tradeoffs in future releases.

"Primal sucks, but it's the best we got"
Yakihonne and amethyst are both far superior but they are so damn buggy they don't work half the time.
Using mostly Yakihonne as a client, over Primal these days. But there are many, and I don't really have any problem with UX. I don't get the criticism. Unless it's a direct comparison with apps with $ billions over decades on development and network growth
> give their Ten31 investors preferential treatment in the “trending” column
this is not true and if i cared about engagement i wouldn’t have deleted my x account
Whether intentional or not you are there nearly 100% of the time.
Even purely for selfish reasons it should be changing up to keep users engaged and encourage creators to post here more often. The sales pitch for nostr can’t be “here come lose money with us for ideology” I think it has to be “get some in case it catches on” at this stage
Also by buiding an UI users already intuitively know how to Used, based on proven and well researched designs. This is huge IMO.
