Is gmgn a form of self flagellation that people put themselves through to make whatever scant content there is feel sweeter in comparison?

I have been trying to thin my feed down to get that stuff out. It was funny seeing Janet Yellen's endless firehose of memes, but honestly, it's so 2012 facebook. And GM/GN and Pepe is so 2020. I love this protocol, but people are still forming a culture around it, taking what they had before and putting it here. That will change as developers build new things that leverage the possibilities that could never have happened on centralised social media.
I agree, it's still very early but the potential is there. I think part of the problem for me is also that satellite.earth is the format I want, but it's also very early in its development and can't even do basic things like search, block/mute people, etc. So for the time being I'm stuck in this hell where everything I post has a couple of bots replying with shitcoin shills, most of what I see under 'Featured' is bitcoin chat, zap griefters, gm/gn posts, more shitcoin bots, people's generic platitudes on how to lead a positive life, etc. I just want to peel away this shitty crust and get to the content I know must be hiding somewhere underneath.

We'll build it, one piece at a time. I'm working on adding nostr/bitcoin keys to Git and Gitea and plugging a storage back end into a new distributed data storage protocol. Maybe in a couple of weeks we will be starting to be able to do the same thing for Github that we are currently doing for chat/forums.
Maybe you find my posts too much like LinkedIn level platitudes but still, you're welcome to give them a read :) I also appreciate insightful responses / discussions!
