That's the thing, I've never really successfully purple-pilled anyone 🙃 However, I have 2 different ways of looking at purple-pilling. 1) have the person's first touch with Nostr being a UI they'll be more familiar with: Primal 2) have the person's first touch with Nostr being something kinda similar to legacy socials, but be different so that it's exciting and novel: Wisp, Yakihonne. It depends on the nature of the person, though I usually go with Primal. I've also personally made a new npub with and I liked the experience.

Probably best to direct based on post style (content creator, meme, shitposter, etc). I’m here enjoying the echo chamber

Here’s a text I sent a fellow homesteader/preparedness maxi I met this week who expressed his disdain for centralized socials and refuses to use them: I have never done anything on centralized social media other than a short three month stint on Facebook in 2005, before I deleted it. Then a three month test of Twitter in 2018. Didn’t like it. Too much of the “look at me“ culture. I don’t fucking care what your relationship status is and what you have for lunch every day lol. And when I watched that documentary called The Social Dilemma in 2020, talking about how centralized social media algorithms are feeding intentionally divisive material to users to maximize screen time, ad views and social division, it sealed the deal. Nostr is not owned by a company. It works on a series of decentralized relays so it can never be taken down and your content can never be censored. You can find a lot of people on there that share your interests by simply doing hashtag searches. ie #permaculture for example. Literally anything you are interested in. And the great thing is that you can totally control what is on your feed. Nostr only shows you the topics and users that you actively follow. If you don’t like something you see or some wanker’s content you simply mute them. Depending on what phone you have, there are a variety of Nostr clients that you can download to access content on the relays. I am primarily on iPhone so I use Damus from the App Store. If you are on android, the current best client from the reviews lately is called Wisp. Here’s a webpage that describes what Nostr is and how it works and how to set up an identity that is only yours. Important note: never share your private key (nsec) with anyone, just your public key (npub). You can find me on Nostr my username is 1776. If you have any questions, hit me up.
