On nostr, what makes more sense: writing notes in my native German to help grow the German-speaking community, or sticking to English since reach is bigger and almost everyone understands it anyway? Running two profiles is not an option. Thoughts? Meinungen? #asknostr

Many Nostr clients have built in translation, so using your native language isn't a death knell for your reach. It will curtail it slightly, but be free to do what you want. 👍
I would say, write the post in both languages. One paragraph in English & the other German. Alternatively, you can send two separate post. One in English and then German.
Yes, that’s a good solution. I don’t find two posts all that great, since that floods the followers’ timeline… but splitting the post into two paragraphs probably makes sense."
I only know the translation in Amethyst, from English to German. Total disaster. Unfortunately (still) no solution. Maybe I’ll just write my posts in two languages right away… I’ll give that a try.
No doubt! It’s all about community here. One of the main reasons I joined. Post to your heart’s desires!
Some are better, Amethyst uses on device translation so it's models are more limited. Damus & nostrudel use online translation. Less privacy, but better results. What I get for your German part: "What does Nostr actually make sense here: I create my notes in my mother tongue German and contribute to strengthening the German community on Nostr or do I write everything in English, because the range is higher and anyway, almost everyone speaks English? Two profiles are no option. Opinions?" Not perfect, but pretty close. I think maybe translating to English is better than translating to other languages with the on device mode. I've seen it be much improved with Android 16 as well, though it still has issues with Asian languages.
Hey, thanks for getting back to me! Yeah, that sounds way better on Damus... Maybe I'll stick to bilingual posts for now... I can't control which client my followers are using, after all...
Change your name to "I also speak English" and write the notes in German. This suggestion comes from the math nerd part of my brain, not a joke.
