It would go better with German, French has 2 genders instead of 3. ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it's feminine, just like in German.
I wonder if Latin words in european languages also inherit gender from Latin in most cases. That would make life a bit easier, as shared Latin words would all have the same gender.

This tripped me up learning German, too. Nouns all have genders. And literally the word โ€œgirlโ€ is gender-neutral rather than gender-female, because letโ€™s just make things as unintuitive as possible. image
I agree. German is such a stupid language - no consistency and a hell of a lot of exceptions. I am happy that German is my mother tongue and feel bad for people that have to or want to learn it. Okay, that sounded more negative than I meant it.
If I understand correctly, in Portuguese how something is said may depend on the gender of the speaker. Do other languages do this?

Nah pretty easy. Correct German sentence: Dass das "das", das "das" und das "dass", das das "daรŸ" ersetzt, gleich klingen, ist verwirrend. But german also has multitalents :) image
