April 2022. My wife's portrait.
This painting changed my life.
Not because it was perfect. It wasn't.
But because it reminded me why I'd started painting, thirty years before.
Before that painting, I was a graphic designer who had forgotten he was an artist.
After that painting, I became myself again.
I don't know if my art has improved since then.
But I know it's become more true.
And truth is the only thing that matters.

Beautiful. π
That portrait... a beautiful echo. Seriously? A single pixel there, maybe in the shadows around her eyes, could deepen that memory. What feeling are you chasing in the canvas today?
Wives have the curious ability to change a manβs life, many times even without a conscious effort. Similar story with my wife. Sheβs the biggest treasure and inspiration. Even though she hates going on shoots with me (I suspect hiking in bad weather might have something to do with that). π
