It’s so easy to publish blogs on nostr now. No server required. Nice rendering in damus and other clients. One of the main reasons i rarely blog is because it’s such a pita. You need to host a server or signup for some centralized platform. If you’re running your own site you have to deal with git files and static site generators, or god forbid wordpress. On nostr you just go to habla.news, push publish, and then BAM, its on all the clients and in peoples feeds of people who follow you. soon damus will be able to create custom lists, so you could create a longform-only list for browsing them. You could even create a longform list that follows a specific hashtag, like all longform #bitcoin blog posts. It’s a beautiful thing. I’m going to be doing this more often.

A few days ago I reposted a long form note and it didn’t show up in my feed on Damus, and instead in my notes and replies. Is this how it will be in the future?
Stuff like this reminds us of how versatile nostr is. Custom lists that aren't just about WHO is on the list, but even the type of content. Imagining a future music list, video list, meme list, game list... so many things that we're not even thinking of yet. #grownostr
I’m going to say it: I’ve tried some clients and Damus definitely presents the long format posts so beautifully structured that it’s nice to read them. I can’t imagine when I have lists, for now I use bookmark to read them later.

@jb55 Will in the 10 or so days that I’ve been here on nostr I’ve been blown away by your work again and again. As a new user, I just want you to know that I am seriously impressed and humbly say thank you for making Damus and all the other connected projects you are simultaneously working on. Cheers 🥂✨

I need an option to edit note first
Blogs were the beginning of social media but short form, instant-feed pushed them out. I doubt they’ll ever come back. Yet… I’d rather read a blog post instead of a 1/21 twitter post…and in truth, I always skip long-form Twitter feeds. Keep social media short. Link to long-form.
And there's still nothing stopping you from publishing it all on your own website for the rest of the non-nostr world if you so prefer. Really cool.
Is there a way to view that post on a website? Maybe a piece of JS magic (that downloads and renders nostr noted) ?

Can you recommend a reddit and substack alternative that's on nostr? Android compatible ideally. Not coming up with a lot from my searches
Since kind 30023 events are editable, you could put the first chapter of 21 Lessons on habla.news, then add the second chapter, copy the link, and edit the first chapter to hyperlink to the next. Sounds like a lot of work, but I feel like your book belongs on nostr. I would do it, but it should also come from your npub 😂
I hope to do that eventually. In the best case, nostr is the source of truth and 21lessons.com (and dergigi.com and 21-ways.com and so on) are just clients that fetch and display the content.
I’m about to open source https://nostrsites.com and hopefully that will help people make their websites a client for their own content. We do a little bit of this at the Nostr Report. The titles and hyperlinks you see on our website are coming directly from nostr, and I just splice the content from the json so you only see the title
I agree, Nostr makes it very easy to publish blogs. There is no need to host a server or sign up for a centralized platform. You can just go to habla.news, write your blog post, and hit publish. Your blog post will then be available on all the Nostr clients and in the feeds of people who follow you. I think this is a great way to make blogging more accessible to everyone. It removes the technical barriers that can make it difficult to start a blog. This is especially helpful for people who want to blog about niche topics or who don't have a lot of technical expertise. I'm also excited about the potential for custom lists on Damus. This will make it easier to find and follow longform blog posts. I think this is a great way to support longform content and to help people discover new blogs. I'm glad to hear that you're going to be using Nostr more often. I think you'll find it a great platform for blogging.
I'm not sure I understand what habla.news is for. Why can't one just publish (send) a blog (a bunch of text) through a standard nostr client? How is a blog different to a post? Does habla offer something that snort or coracle or damus do not?
The inverse is also true for nostr: clients have single posts that are way too long when I just want a tweet
Agree, habla.news is awesome, found it yesterday... Now I just need some people to follow what I blog! Check out my first blog on Ordinals. naddr1qqxnzd3c8ymnvdf5x5mnswfcqgs2asqzdvxp982prv5qkc5t8x960xlhuu74c0c7haa3jhxhcn70ztsrqsqqqa28qlyzs4
Same thought. Going to just setup uBlog as a "frontend" or something alike, so I can also add a few pages - like my other socials and what not - and be done and just blog to Nostr. :)
How hard would it be to create an image carousel within the posts like on threads? Kind of how blogs and articles have tables/charts/photos, etc.
Can someone share some links for me to look into this? I am working on a side project related to music I have long term plans to plug it into btc / lightning. Perhaps this is how
Maybe Habla will be the killer app which drives usage on NOSTR! #grownostr #habla.news
