possibly,... it's hardly comparable though: paying for security of a small town for a single month vs. becoming a dictator of a sovereign nation for lifetime
Have you read most things from Peter that have led to this outcome? I can understand how it looks just by seeing this post, but I find it to be a reasonable solution if you have the full context.
I'm referring to @Saifedean Ammous, the author of The Bitcoin Standard😁, who often talks about "low time preference" - basically thinking long-term, saving, and building for the future instead of chasing quick consumption. The joke here is that becoming a "king" actually fits that mindset perfectly. 😊
I mean he’s sold more books than me, don’t get me wrong πŸ˜‚ Actually, seriously I bought his book, but couldn’t read it which is why I wrote mine. Its basically the same, but cuts out all that fiat crap he drivels on about πŸ˜‚
Watch do you propose as an alternative for Bedford? Are they supposed to let vagrants, vandals and vagabonds run rampant? Peter McCormack is setting up a neighborhood watch. Presumably they will report crime and suspicious activities to the police, who will then do their job. Watch The Magnificent Seven for reference, the 1960 version. Better yet is the Japanese original, Seven Samurai.
You’ll have to fight my neighbour and friend, the vintner, for my countries wine concession, when I become dictator πŸ˜‚
You are not weird 🫑 However, a nuanced view, I am gradually building. All politicians start with good intent. If they succeed, they don't wish to give up the job / life they enjoy, so they look around for other things to interfere in. This is where things start to go downhill. Also, the nature of politics is that keeping your job is the number one goal and over rides all other goals. You either do that by pleasing the masses and do the popular thing not the right thing, or you turn bad, if opportunity arises and become a dictator or part of a dictatorship. Although you don't see it that way, you genuinely believe you are needed to continue the good work View quoted note β†’
