I'm so old, I remember when we used social media for the fun.
The world has changed buddy
I remember when social media wasn't about earning money but connecting to people. That said, the money bit does add some spice.
Do you understand what year it is and what the world is like today?
Not even about generosity. Bitcoiners are cheapskates

My memes? No. But other content I make? Yes, just not here, and thatโs why I donโt waste time publishing, engaging, and building an audience on Nostr.
Yeah...not sure I like everything that's evolved out of the web since Sir Tim made the net accessible to everyone. Not that I've got anything against people earning and I can see the usecase, but I wonder if it's just evolved out of the constant need for the centralised platforms to maximise screen time and if it's really a good thing to have on social media.
The world Is fake and ghey now
Youโre crazy. The internet has revolutionized the world through access to information, communication, and economic opportunities that would never have existed or been accessible otherwise. Not all that has come from it is good, of course, but what good thing in the world is without its own pitfalls? Nostr has potential, but not if its user base continues to be so stingy.
If he vibe coded some stupid pointless app heโd get tons of zaps and probably even a grant and then could just abandon it.
Itโs a bitcoin faucet for enterprising grifter devs.
I'm not crazy - I remember. I also remember the hopes, dreams etc. I don't think anyone back then ever hoped or dreamed that the next generation would be able to earn a dimension by sharing memes on social media. Like I say, I'm not against people earning, but it doesn't seem to me that it's place in social media is a result of anything other than psychological manipulation.
I rarely go on legacy social media atm, this place is far more interesting and oddly, more interactive, for me at least.
Iโd love to see a company creating an app, like Primal or diVine, partner with content creators as part of their business plans.
This isnโt about memes. Itโs about economic incentives for artists/creators/entrepreneurs in a digital landscape. The incentives simply donโt exist on Nostr. You can argue that the incentives shouldnโt exist, and thatโs your prerogative, but I wholeheartedly disagree.
I'd love it if, in the next few years, my photography, via whatever route, earned me a little income. If it does, great, if not, so be it. But shouldn't it be shared for the joy of sharing and creating? Different, of course, if you're selling physical goods. Like, for instance, I could sell prints of my photography, or collaborate with someone to turn the best of them in to paintings to sell etc adding more value to the original proposition. Not that I think it's good enough, but in theory. It's on those who want to make money to provide the reason for people to part with it. If they're not parting with it, find a way. Capitalism 101.
You should talk to @๐ isolabellart
Nostr isn't ded..
Whoever says it is is confused.
I'd absolutely love to get one of my images done as a painting by him, as a gift for my daughter - allocation of resources is the constant constraint, so far. Hopefully by December I'll be able to make it happen.
Iโm referring to your desire to one day make money from your art but thinking everyone should just post their work for free. But I imagine heโd like the business ๐
If people don't want to post their work for free they don't have to. There's paywall option available, subscriptions, patron style arrangements etc. Just got to find the way that works. Also, when referencing my own photography, I'm pointing out that if I want to make money from it I'd have to put the work in and find the way to do that. Just sharing stuff and hoping to get paid is still a really really new idea and if it's not working then maybe it wasn't that good an idea. The market decides.
Those monetization options donโt exist on Nostr, thus back to my original post ๐

They did, what happened to them? Either way, if they don't exist any more (projects do tend to rise and fall here) then it wouldn't take much for them to exist again. That goes to what I'm saying. Gotta do the value add. If people ain't parting with their sats, best to find a way to make them.
I'd never earn on the main social medias anyway, so idc. At least here I get less indian scammers sending me manipulative chatgpt scripts and trying to sell me things xD
Social media is just shouting into the void...
Iโm not aware that subscriptions/paywalls/patreon features have ever been implemented on Nostr clients.
What about YakiHomne? It is a free trial for 14 days, then moves to a subscription basis, from
what I just saw an hour ago.
I would be honored, Matt. ๐ซ๐จ
