Hey, Plebs, Is it just Amethyst, or has all of nostr turned to ๐Ÿ’ฉ lately๐Ÿค”๐Ÿง๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ขโ“? #asknostr I can't scroll to find any but the most recent replies, images are fuzzy forEVer, I can't save pictures without repeated taps, things I'm looking at disappear without warning, forGET about SEARCHING for anything, half of my feed says "Event not found," I try to scroll through history I've seen before, and hit hard walls, my phone burns my hand... I could go on!๐Ÿ˜ณ Amethyst and nostr have been my daily driver for years now, but I'm getting beyond frustrated now because it feels like it's all turning to ๐Ÿ’ฉ... ๐Ÿ˜ข

Check your relays, try removing the error-prone and see if that fixes it.

You have zero indexer relays and probably too many inbox/outbox relays. 3 max per category. Remove the ones that have lots of errors. Use default options for indexer & search options. Disable TOR completely under privacy options. A lot of relays are refusing TOR.
I stopped using amethyst. The following feed is full of spam accounts I don't even follow. I can't see half the comments because of the shadowban system hiding them from me. Primal and yakihonne are my main clients.
Use proxy relays to disable outbox model, it'll stop connecting to all those 300 relays and pull feeds from your proxy relays.
I just dont trust the relay thing. I have no advice to help. But that many connections are surely gonna cause a slowdown of most devices. And do you really trust a forced connection to a relay without choice? Who knows who or what is running them. Worse, Vitor doesnt care that anyone may have an issue with it. I told him I would never use the app again as long as its forced. Months ago. Still forced. Sus af. He also added covert censorship recently. If five or more people you follow mute someone then its muted for you. Again, without choice. Find another is my suggestion.

People have been complaining about amethyst shadow banning accounts from very early on but i've yet to see proof.. Has anyone seen examples? Other than the customizable filters?
Iโ€™ve heard quite a lot about this client, Iโ€™m curious why itโ€™s not available for iOS as well, I would like to see how it stands up to other clients.

I went searching for that & thought the problem was on my end. Thank you for the update
First, Thank you so much to each of you who responded to this appeal. I really appreciate every one of you who took the time to give me some positive feedback.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ Based on my recent history with Amethyst, and with the aggregate sense I get from the feedback, I'm ready to jump to something better: The question is, what might that be?๐Ÿค”๐Ÿง๐Ÿ˜ณ I need a good recommendation for a daily driver nostr client... And it needs to run well on Android, on the Graphene OS. Once again, thanks in advance for any recommendations...๐Ÿ™โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ #asknostr

I'm using Yakihonne on Graphene without trouble. It actually works better for me on Graphene than on the desktop.
Hey, Friend, Just curious; have you ever looked into Reticulum? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿง I thought it was "just another mesh" until I watched this presentation: If I understand what I saw there correctly, reticulum is a freakin' internet replacement, only done right this time...๐Ÿ˜€
Understood. So have you given some thought to how to implement a totally decentralized search engine? I was just discussing this with a friend on Saturday night... Thinking about how it could be unbiased... If you had a large enough collection of biased individuals, as long as everyone was biased in different directions, you'd still index everything out there... If the source code is unbiased, as long as the users don't tamper with it, that would help as well.
It's a really hard problem, but I think multi-master is probably the right approach, and maybe DVMs/NIP 89 can help, although sybil attacks are probably always going to be a thing. Special-purpose solutions might involve DHTs or blockchains or whatnot, but yeah, tricky.
