Need to reiterate the following to any/all who are new to Nostr. Engagement with the community is critical. A “lurker’s” mentality will result in a very sub-par experience. Say whatever you want. Post notes on whatever is your subject matter expertise. Be weird, whatever that might mean. Just engage on a regular basis. This is a message I have to keep reminding myself too.

Exactly and you find, or I find at least, that what you get out of engagement is exponentially more than what you put in.

I feel more of an urge to engage here since I’m not a coder. Engaging is my way of helping to #grownostr. I prefer to lurk and spend time afk but this is a project worth my precious time.
Same here. Everyone has some sort of unique expertise. They should share that. It would be of real value to the community. I’m the “China guy” and really want others to provide whatever is their own sort of unique “thing”. Doesn’t matter the subject matter.

Good to know, as it’s always weird joining a brand new platform and trying to find your voice.
Absolutely! I was a lurker for a long time and it was great for me, then I started commenting on notes and my experience completely changed and I "met" some really great people. It was hard to bite the bullet, but I found that most people are really nice here and chat back and forth. Post the silly things, post the serious things, but also post when you need a friend.

who are you favorite people to engage with? do you make conscious effort to expand out of your immediate inclinations and circle of influence? sending blessings! 🌹🕊️
no but thanks for your post. its true, that sometimes it is easy to just read the trending stuff and not so anything. that's not really nostr.

I agree, I haven’t been interacting and I’m gonna do that more from here on out.
I have found more genuine feelings people here on NOSTR in 3 or 4 .months than years and years of FB x Twitter etc...

I’m 100% a lurker because I have no idea what I’m doing here. But I like the concept of decentralized space to freely speak.
I whole heartedly concur, and what I enjoy most about Nostr is the richness which comes from the authenticity of those engaging on the platform. There is no judgment. All are encouraged to be who they truly are.
