Early #internet geeks were “insufferable” until they changed the world. If #Nostr is going to survive the 95% churn rate, it must be a place where people can talk about topics other than #freedomtech protocols. We #BUIDL a house for everyone, but currently, only the architects and builders are living in it. It’s time to move in the furniture, isn’t it? 🪑

The term plebs is outdated - it’s furniture now 😁🪑
Yes, but carefully. It suits the builders and architects and other enthusiasts, because we are willing to live with details like
- zaps not working under some clients and wallets time to time
- visibility of notes in different clients (like I see things on Yakihonne that I don’t see on Primal..)
- DMs are mess
- you actually have to learn a bunch of new stuff, like about nsec, signers, wallets and stuff
and so on.
I’m totally ok with it as I realize it’s work in process. But from the perspective of a non-tech newcomer, it means the thing isn’t ready.
Not mentioning the absence of algos, so it takes a serious amount of time to set up your nostr space (which btw I see as a feature).
It’s not criticism, I love and appreciate nostr and the devs. I’m just taking pleb mentality in consideration.

I mean... I am still here, and since I went with a full 2 year pre-purchase on the VPS my relay lives on, pretty sure I will be around. I am not a dev/devops/vibe guy, I do like Bitcoin, and zaps etc.. but I am not a "maxi" I suppose, or am I? Who knows. The primary onboarding like going and creating an Npub and profile is pretty slick and easy, the apps are pretty cool, some better than others I suppose based on the person. Where it becomes far more challenging is the wallet setup, onchain/Lightning, and getting my f@*%! crypto into this all need serious help, there has to be an easier, less failure prone way. I enjoy the zaps as a payment and a HT, that is awesome and it's directly supporting the craft people put time into. Last part, the feeds are absolutely chock full of wonderful people, most are readily willing to help n00b's like me. The feeds are also absolutely chock full of Maxi's and Dev stuffs. People need to "find" the content that interests them and that is, I think, one of the big breakdowns. People are conditioned to have that stuff spoon fed to them. So how do we make it easier for people like me, or people far less technical than me to find the stuffs that interests them? Follow packs are great, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to find them. Maybe some new NIP's for categories??? I don't really know, I can script no problem, but I am no dev. Heck the NIP's may be there, I just don't know about them.
You can talk about any topic you want on nostr.
The thing about protocols like this is that if you build it they will come, or they won't, and it still works for those that want it.
Nostria hates my wallet/Alby or something and always fails trying to reach Alby relay for zaps. Amethyst and Yakihonne worked far better and simpler. That said once the wallet is setup, getting crypto to a LN is a freaking masterpiece in failure, delays, and frustration for those using a typical exchange. Even Trezor gives me grief on this stuff. Maybe I am doing something wrong but it all looks like it should work in some areas and then fails. Which is a major bummer. Personally my favorite app is Nostria on my puter just cannot seem to get it to work correctly... yet.
I 100% agree on Nostr being awesome, im all in and trying like hell to drag people with me. The people in this space are amazing, at least those I've interacted with.
Thats a great idea, thank you! I will tackle that one tomorrow.
