Pretty nice. Base concept is quite simillar to Nostr. Maybe it would be a good idea to merge some ideas.

Has there been any clarity yet as to how the feds got access to CZ's Signal messages (per the Binance filings)?

It’s all about correlate information and inference, if you just want privacy..go to a secluded place meet face to face no phone no tech whatsoever. #puravida #nostr
This one looks good. Being serverless is a basic feature in a chat app. Metadata is more than enough to cheat your data. Federated server always end up lying. Keet is open source ?

When Nostr messaging ???
Piqued my interest until I clicked the 'Hoe it works' link, To deliver mesages, instead of user IDs used by all other platforms, SimpleX uses temporary anonymous pairwise identifiers of message queues, separate for each of your connections — there are no long term identifiers. Now I got the mesage.

Still prefer Confide - no screenshots.
I think it's a super intriguing design for maintaining privacy! Though the name keeps reminding me of "Herpes Simplex" 😂 image

Is there a desktop version? Or would that compromise privacy?

Ok thanks, I am already using elements messenger which I believe is Matrix based, but this one seems more interesting.
I was just thinking a chat platform based on nostr would be amazing, SMP seems to be similar, or am I not understanding the protocol correctly?
I’m skeptical of the claim that there are no IDs, “not even random numbers”. Without an identifier of some kind, how can you distinguish who’s talking? Or is it all anons?

Do you know anyone who actually uses mobilecoin on Signal? Seems kinda redundant with so many better options out there.

Can’t figure out how to do it on both phone and Mac at same time tho
I don’t think they’re is a capability to sync across devices at the moment. Although you can export/import your chat database in the settings. I would really love to see this functionality.
Figured. The app didn’t make it entirely easy to acquire it either.

i downloaded it. i mean - okay. but how does it bypass the IP address? especially if you use your actual identity for itunes when you download the damn thing - it's not as if the exact same issues with packet delivery don't exist? and in the end - why can't people just send texts. eyeroll. privacy is subjective based on what you imagine it means.

if anyone can do it simultaneously - you can.

I’m not going to be a rider here… there are so many different “DM” messaging options. How many people are truly that paranoid about privacy to switch to this… I don’t think enough. If you bought it and adopted into cash app or something perhaps 🤔

Interesting concept. I downloaded it to try. Looking forward to seeing how it performs. I like the privacy aspects. We’ll see……

I wish Nostr architecture was described as message queues too. Message queues are great for ephemeral messaging, but once you need to host a web page, or backup important data for long term, you will need more. You will need personal data servers and you will need stable long-lived identifiers and you will need direct relationship with a trusted hosting provider(s), not a loose set of random relays, you will also need versioning like Git and access control like Dropbox or Google drive. If we don't build that it will be left to AtProtocol and then the did:plc will become the defacto identity for that use case, and that did is even worse than ION, at least ION aims for the right things.
The concept is good, but not entirely new. Session have done this nearly 3 years ago. And (despite most consider a shitcoin) it runs on the Oxen Network (old Loki) and it's incentivized, as we earn Oxen when running our own Oxen server (local or on service provider) This server has 3 main services - runs the Oxen Blockchain, runs the Lokinet (onion routing) and Session transmission protocol (no data collected). Regarding SimpleX, there's "simply" no incentive for proper decentralisation, unlike Session. So, I'll keep with Session! 😎

The concept of "Sovereign Groups" always tickles me. They usually lead to everyone confirming their sovereignty by leaving.

Session app is rubbish. I have been testing it since it was Loki messenger. Can't even do the basic operations like cutting and pasting. Moreover it uses a user identifier— doesn't come to any comparison with @SimpleX Chat. It's multiple profiles, profile hiding, and Self-destructive Passcode features are awesome.

For complete privacy and absolute anonymity. For more security. @SimpleX Chat does not need a phone number or email address or anything as an user identifier. It has most wonderful features.

Just starting to learn about i2p and lokinet! I did use session for a bit, but didn't read into the technical parts. Also, no one else used it, so I stopped!
