I'm seeing that both iOS and Android users, even Android users running custom ROMs, still received this alert. If a user opts out, but the wireless system can just bypass their choice, then why even have a choice? π‘ The illusion of choice foils us again.

I think Graphene will do something against that with the new update.
I guess it's just an advertisement for graphene to turn these off too...
It's worked on amber alerts for me in the past
I had them disabled for stock Sndroid and it stopped all the alerts but todays test alert was able to arbitrarily disregard my settings

I have graphene on my phone, and the alerts disabled. Did not get the alert.
I'm sure it's something dumb like this wasn't a real alert, it was a test, and you can't opt out of tests π

Not sure what youβre asking about but the other thing is that you donβt need to worry about it.
Donβt you need to have a plan with a wireless carrier to get the alerts? So even if you didnβt have your phone on airplane mode you most likely would have not received the alert if you use your phone without a sim card.

So many new 'tests' of emergency alert systems recently in many nations.
The psychological reaction to a scheduled false alert is just the same as to an unscheduled, real alert. Like 'trigger warnings' are just as triggering as the trigger.
