Valid message, respect is due to this charismatic man. One of the few freedom loving folk who was released WITHOUT a plea deal. Can't wait to hear what he has to say, and see what he's capable of.
Poor kid looks like he’s had to pick bars of soap off the shower floor way too many times.

Thanks for sharing. I just watched the video of his call from prison a few years ago. If anyone is looking for inspiration to live free and push for freedom technology, watch the video!

What bs. This empty message is an indication that he has little to say. He started SR as a brash young fool. He got a bit wiser in prison, but he's still a man of little insight. Certainly I've yet to hear anything insightful from him anyway.
Thank you, Ross. We love you. Take all the time you need with your family to heal and be whole again. And we very much look forward to seeing what your future holds for you and the rest of us.

You may be right. However I'd suspect your expectations are unreasonable. Do you expect he would take significant action 48 hours after being released from prison?

I've yet to hear any real insight from him, and I read the DPR postings back when they came out. I've also listened to the 45 interview call he did from prison. In that call he acknowledged the stress he had put on his family (which his mother nearly died from) and that Silk Road may not have been good for Bitcoin (I don't think it was). So I acknowledge the greater maturity he showed in that call, but that maturity came from the self reflection that getting caught and going to prison can bring. He's certainly lived an interesting life and yes, SR was a part of the late early part of Bitcoin's history (but not part of the really interesting pre 2011 period). Karpeles also lived an interesting experience running Mt Gox but I also wouldn't look to him for insight into Bitcoin. Both were just operational players. Few ppl do actually have novel insights into Bitcoin to share. I just don't see why we should expect Ross to have any, when there's no history so far of him sharing any previously (that I'm aware of).

I would disagree, with respect to your opinion. I also listened to some of his interviews and I do think he is quite charismatic. I also do think there is some rebel that remains, a rebel who may want to promote the cause of freedom (he is very vocal about that). I would expect someone like him to be much more impactful in the libertarian platform than say, someone like saylor. Saylor wants mainstream tradfi integration of bitcoin, and holds all his btc in coinbase after all. I think bitcoin benefits from every contribution made by every individual contributor with the right values. In bitcoin, it's not about one man saving all, it's where hundreds of thousands of people who seek freedom act according to their values in their own way, with their own means in their own individual local circles. I'm not looking for Ross to save me, but I do suspect he will contribute to the freedom cause in his own way.

Appreciate this thoughtful reply. Agree with yr criticisms of Saylor, although I think Saylor has also shared useful insights into Bitcoin. But yeah, there's what I call Saylorism, which is a cult level idolisation of Saylor and I think it's dangerous for Bitcoin. Which leads me to my next point - I don't know why you think high charisma is important for Bitcoin (although you attached it to libertarianism). Jack Malkers also has high charisma and I don't think he's particularly good for Bitcoin. Bitcoin has benefited from the weird and the nerdy, not the slick and charismatic types, in the whole. Or the completely anonymous ,as Satoshi modeled right at the start. Bitcoin doesn't need heroes. Bitcoin doesn't need influencers, despite the fact that we're seeing more ppl attempting to set themselves up as such. Bitcoin doesn't need the cult of personality. And I'm wary that ppl are pushing (and maybe he is positioning himself? I don't know) Ross to step into the role of hero. That's actually amatha to me (hence my strong reaction).

My point is that Bitcoin benefits from all types and that those with charisma can serve a certain purpose.. There's no miracle Combination of attributes that will make somebody a perfect Bitcoiner or in my opinion. It's the diversity and the number of people involved and passionate that serves to bring about positive change. I, for one, am looking forward to see what Ross can do in that regards.
Inspiring. As was the release of the January 6 non-insurrectionists. Let's not forget other political prisoners. Prime among them is James Alex Fields, rotting in America's hellhole prison system for 400 years for Murder One, in a case in which no one whatsoever was murdered.
