I use it for personal emails, you can use custom domains which is nice. probably a honey pot, but the encrypted email bridge software on Linux is nice.
I have proton and it works great. UI isn’t quite as good as Google and the missing integrations with everything next the sun that you get with Google is a slight negative. But overall love the experience. It’s definitely good enough to be anyone’s (not just paranoid crypto anarchists) one and only email solution.
been with them since 2017 and they have consistently delivered improvements and new services. I can recommend it!
i did like 8 years ago. it was fine then, i’m sure it’s even better now.
Yes. Happy customer here. Cloud, Calendar, masking mail, VPN, password manager and now Docs that I am trying to use as Notes. Because fuck Google.

We have proton. No issues.
Really like! Any specific questions/concerns to answer? Overall you get much better privacy and support for cool features like PGP with the tradeoff being slightly less overall performance and capability.
I want to subscribe to a Proton Mail Premium plan when there's a good discount. My goal is to use the custom domain feature so I can use my own domain instead of proton.me. This looks more professional and also obscures the fact that I'm using Proton's infrastructure. My question is, if my subscription expires, will I still be able to receive emails? I'm concerned about this because I want to use it for academic work and publishing my papers, and I want it to remain active for years. However, I'm worried that if I can't renew my subscription, my emails will become inaccessible. What's your opinion on this?

you would likely lose the ability to receive at that custom domain but your prior emails will remain in your free tier proton account up to your free tier storage capacity.
So, do you think I shouldn't use a personal domain to publish articles? Because I want to be able to receive emails for years to come.
You can always point the mx record to another provider or a vps with mail server in the future if you don't like proton.
I like it it works for me my needs are simple I also use there vpn. I have a de-googled Pixel with the vpn always on and it is very reliable no issues.

I’m happy with it. Alerting everyone is a bit of a pain, and I had to check gmail for months to make sure I didn’t miss anyone.
