Potentially a death sentence for many small scale farms across Australia, ours included

Nanny state.
All the recalls I remember seeing have been for the pre-packaged salad rubbish sold in supermarkets. That is very different to the small producers who often take a lot of pride and care in what they do to sell a quality product. This sounds like it will just make it more expensive and more difficult to buy quality, fresh fruit and veg.
100% the contamination problems come from large scale producers that have long processes and many hands between farm and consumer.
Contam generally arises after they’ve been washed with sanitiser (aka bleach) and then bacteria is given an opportunity to grow before consumption.
We harvest, bag and sell direct to consumer generally on the same day. We tell them to wash before eating
Under this new plan not only will it cost a huge amount to comply but we’ll be forced to wash with sanitiser, introducing more chance of contamination 🤡
Everything seems to be becoming prohibited for our safety.
Salmonella kills man.
It's for your safety.
Similar game, slightly different shit down under.
